Eelyn

As I entered the room I could feel the silence in the place. It's true I'm nervous, it is my second day working in this school and I can only wish for this grade to be less critic than the others. My assignments are chemistry, physics and biology, which is my favourite for the Fungi Kingdom. I thought they wouldn't take my curriculum, I'm barely starting. I turned to the students after reaching my desk.

"Good morning" Greetings should be normal.
"Morning" answered some of them. Scanning with my eyes the four rows of six students per each, they were around 24 of them. At least they were not 30. I learned that the more students in a room, the easier you'd lose their attention.

"I'm Evelyn Wright, I'll be your biology professor this year. I'm sure some of you may know the subject shall be given in English, that's mainly why I'm speaking it. I ask for respect and compromise of you and I kindly remember you all that the subject given in another language won't be an excuse to fail it. I won't accept that"
Am I being too hard with them?

"Right, since it's the first day I'm meeting you, please each of you get up and introduce yourselves. Name, likes and personality would be fine for now"

I sat down as they start following my instructions. I needed to start remembering their names, after all, they were now my students. Thought asking some question from time to time would help. Giving them my attention was the least I could do to prove I was actually trying to know them and make the beginning of the course a bit more comfortable. I was doing my best to remember the names by mentally scanning the place all over again. That was my doing until I caught a girl staring at me. She wasn't very tall, might be just as tall as I was. Her hair was straight brown, eyes the same colour and her skin was a bit pale, not as mine but paler than the others. She seemed athletic, it gave her a healthy appearance.

Her sight towards me confused me. She could be upset for attending class, perhaps she was one of those students who criticise a lot... maybe it was pure curiosity like the one I has for them. Just as I started to hold her gaze she quickly evaded it and stared to her notebook at her desk. She didn't look again until it was time to introduce herself.

"I'm Alexis Raley. I like science in general and playing football (soccer), also write or draw sometimes. I'm fine if it's needed to work alone"she ended.

"Very well miss Raley. Do you play in a football school or by your own?" I asked. I've never have a girl student who played football and that called my attention.

"Both" There I caught a strange accent in her voice, kind of British. Thought I had imagine it the first time.
"Where were you born?" I asked immediately, she frowned at my question and delayed a bit in answering.

"In San Francisco, California. Professor" My suspicion faded away giving up, I thought the accent was related to the birth place, but it clearly didn't. My curiosity had to wait.

"All right, even though you're used to work individually there may be some projects requiring a team, I believe you'll do fine with it" I looked at her for an answer, she simply nodded and I leave it be. Turned around and sit at my desk before grabbing some markers for the board and finally start with the program.

There was something about her that made me feel strange, I felt curious about her and that called my attention a lot. Hopefully she seemed a good student.

Alex.

By the end of professor's Wright class I could tell I like her, she seemed professional trying to explain every subject or strange thing we didn't know...and she was nice, couldn't be more than 25.

I don't think on everyone as attractive, but she definitely is...I'm not even sure I should be this calm about saying it... still, no one needs to know what my thoughts are.

I want to know her, as much as I can.
