Chapter One

"Come on Saige! We're gonna be late!" One of my best friends, Faith, pulled on my arm.

"Okay geez. Let's go to English I guess." I told her.

The bell rang two minutes ago so we were going to be late if I didn't hurry up. As we were rushing to English, my other best friend, Jacob came up to us.

"How's my favorite girls?" He asked.

"Wonderful but we have to get to first period now." I told him.

"Did you forget that I have English with you guys?" He asked.

"Oh yeah, sorry Jacob," we both said and laughed.

We walked into the classroom and took our seats. I was already getting tired of how much the teacher was talking. After she was done talking, we were all told to take out our workbooks and do some pages but she called me up to her desk.

"Is there something wrong Mrs. De La Cruz?" I asked concerned.

"No nothing is wrong. I called you up here because your counselor wants to speak to you in her office about something. This may take a while so you might want to bring all your stuff with you to the Counseling Office just in case." She tells me.

"Okay sure!" I said and I walked back to my desk.

As I was packing up, Jacob turned around (he sits in front of me in class) and asked why she called me up and I explained it to him and as I was leaving, I turned around and glanced at him and he gave me a thumbs up and I smiled.

I opened the door to the Main Office, since the Counseling Office was located in there and as I was walking in, I looked to the side of me and caught the guy staring at me like I was a bad person or something.

I walked in kind of anxious to hear what the lady wanted to tell me.

"Hi, you wanted to see me?" I asked.

"Hello, yes, Saige I have some exciting news for you!" She tells me as I sit down, "First off, I'd like to say that you are doing tremendous in all your classes so great job! But that's not why you're here. You are here because your teachers and I have discussed that your regular classes may be too easy. So we challenged you and instead of being in Grade 11 classes, you will now be in Grade 11/12 classes with Seniors and a few other Juniors who are doing very well like you are. Except, your English class will stay the same just because we believe you will be missing out on important lessons if you did 11/12 English."

"Really? Thank you so much!" I told her excited.

"No problem hun! Here is your new schedule. Your regular classes will be the same up until Study Hall, or 3rd period. After Study Hall, you can head to your new classes . But starting on Monday, you'll be going to all these classes. And I've told your parents and they are absolutely thrilled! So congratulations!"

I was so happy mainly because I agreed that my regular classes are a little too easy for me. The lady and I talked a little bit more until the bell rang for 2nd period. I went to the spot that Faith, Jacob,and I usually meet at and I waited for them.

Once they both saw me they ran up to me.

"Oh my gosh! What happened in there?" Faith asked concerned.
