Hi guys! Here's the first one-shot. I actually wrote this a while ago as something random, so I decided to add it here. I hope you like it!
Thoughts were racing through my mind.
You can do it!
She would totally say yes!
Don't be afraid! She loves you!
I guess I'll just trust the people that told me and go with it. Positive thoughts. Let's get ourselves together now. Go to the jewelry store, get a ring, and wait until I'm ready to propose to the love of my life.
I got into my blue car and drove down to my mom's work. I knew they sold jewelry there. And cell phones. And TVs and dresses. I walked into the shop entrance.
"Hey, Hayden!" My older cousin greeted. It was a family-owned business.
"Hi." I replied.
"Whatcha doing here?" My cousin asked.
"Just to see my mom, that's all." I replied.
"She's over there." My cousin pointed. My mom was always in the cell phone part of the store. That's what she's good at, after all.
"Hi, mom." I said.
"Hi sweetie." My mom replied. She looked busy with a customer.
"I need to talk to you for a second, but you look kinda busy..." I said.
"You can talk to me." My mom said. Hey, Andrew! Can you help this customer while I talk to Hayden?"
The customer looked confused but didn't say anything. My mom pulled me to the back.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" My mom said with a smile.
"I-I want to propose to Mack. I just need a ring and some courage." I said.
"Awwww!" My mom exclaimed. She gave me a hug. "Why don't you go talk to your older cousin? She can find you the perfect ring."
"Okay." I replied. My mom walked up to my older cousin and whispered something into her ear.
"REALLY??!" My cousin exclaimed. She looked my direction and smiled. She gestured me her way. I walked up to her.
"Let's find a ring for you." She said.
We walked into the jewelry room together and looked at some rings.
"What about this one?" She took out a ring that was gold with a white diamond on it.
"It's too... Boring. I want something unique." I replied.
"This one?" My cousin pulled out a ring with a square shaped diamond on a white gold band.
"I don't like squares." I said.
"Really? I think squares are awesome!" She replied. "How's this one then?" She pulled out a ring that was silver and had 3 blue diamonds. One was in the middle and it had 2 smaller ones on each side.
"It looks perfect." I said, holding the ring.
"Well do you happen to have a lot of money?" My cousin said as she looked at the price.
"I'm pretty sure." I said as I looked at the price. My mom was going to help me anyway.
Later that day I took the ring home Mack and I's apartment. I purposely wore big pockets so I could have a place to hide the ring. When I walked into the door, I saw Mack in the living room, paying our monthly rent.
"Hey, hun." Mack said with the smile she only gives me.
"Hey sweetie." I walked over to her and gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Where were you all day?" Mack asked.
"Just visiting my mom at work. I haven't seen her in a while anyway." I explained.
"Okay, whatever you say, honey." Mack said, as she gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey, remember our first date?" I recalled a while ago.
"Yeah, when we had a failed Easter egg hunt? I couldn't find anything." Mack said.
"It was at Boston Common, right?" I said.
"Yeah." Mack replied. "Good times, am I right?"
"Wanna go out for dinner?" I said.
"Sure." Mack said. "I chose to go to Friday's last time, so it's your pick."
"Let's go to that new restaurant that just opened up in Boston." I suggested.
"Alright, 5 pm dinner, let's go then!" Mack said. We got into the car and drove off.
~After dinner~
"Hey, that was a great meal!" Mack said.
"Definitely going back to that place again someday." I replied.
"We still have a lot of time on our hands. What do you want to do?" Mack asked.
"You'll see." I said. I pulled her into a kiss and we got into my car.
When we got to Boston Common Garden, I wasn't even sure if I was ready. I had my first panic attack. Mack noticed this and was very concerned.
"Hayden, honey, are you okay?" Mack asked. She pulled me into a hug. "Let's sit down and talk." We sat down on a nearby bench.
"You know I love you no matter what. We can trust each other, right? We trust each other with everything." Mack explained. I stayed silent with a rush of panic through my eyes.
"Okay, so how about we see the duckies? Maybe you'll feel better." I nodded and we headed down to the pond. I noticed there were willow trees and cherry blossoms. They were everywhere, and it made the scene beautiful. The sun was setting so this seemed perfect, almost as if the gods wanted me to propose. At this moment I decided to wing it and go for it.
I dropped down to one knee. "M-Mackenzie Fisher," I started with a stutter in my voice. "Make me the happiest person I know on Earth. Will you marry me?" I pulled out the ring from my pocket and showed it to her. Her facial expression was priceless.
"Yes!" She shouted. She took the ring and put it in her finger. We shared a long kiss under the trees. That moment, I felt like we were the only people on Earth.
This has been the happiest day of my entire life.
