I hate school.
Actually, no. Let me rephrase that, I hate my school. You see I go to a 'special school' where everyone, students and teachers alike, have power over one of the 4 elements: Earth, Fire, Air or Water. These abilities get passed down from generation to generation. Basically, if your parents are Elemantalists, you are. Never in the history of our kind has a child been powerless. That is until I came along. I don't have power over anything and the sad thing is that my parents are the two most powerful Elementalists ever to live. My mum being the Air Elementalist that destroyed a whole army with the flick of her wrist and my dad being strong enough to speed up the Earth's rotation by just manipulating the Earth. They never say it but I could tell they were really disappointed when I didn't develop any power when I was 8 years old, the age every Elementalists gains control of their element.
Anyway, my parents, still clinging to the hope I will become an Elementalist sent me to the most prodigious Elemental Training Academy. So here I am, in a posh school, surrounded by the richest, most powerful children of our age with nothing special about me at all. Great.
By the way, my name is Zoe Link, I'm 16 years old and I'm really bad at waking up in the morning.

It's 6:30 in the morning and after smashing my poor alarm clock to bits, physically having to drag myself out of bed and tripping over a trainer I am standing in front of a mirror in my bathroom. I scowl at my reflection. Stupid school mornings, I think to myself.
I have quite an average appearance, my face is heart shaped and my skin is albino white, I have high cheekbones and a button nose. The only thing that makes me stand out is my eyes and hair. My hair is pure white and my eyes are gold, not yellow, solid gold. I know right - it's creepy. Elementalist often have odd coloured eyes but gold is just plain weird!
I brush my long hair and clean teeth and after I get my green uniform on I head out of the dorms to breakfast...
Sitting at our usual table is Luke and Maddy, my two best friends. They are the only two people here that don't mind my lack of powers, I swear I would be lost without them. Luke has sandy blond hair and warm brown eyes, all in all he is a very handsome guy, he doesn't know that though. He is a very powerful Earth Elemantalist and despite being part of a very rich, influential family is kind and nice to everyone. Not snobbish like many of the kids here.
Maddy on the other hand is sassy and fiercely protective of Luke and I. She has a very sharp tounge and will glare at the 'popular' kids as they walk by our table every morning, honestly I'm glad to be on her side because she can be really terrifying. Maddy has pitch black hair that goes down to her lower back and piercing grey eyes. I often see boys trying to ask her out but she being the independent girl she is turns them down, also threatening to judo flip them if they ask again. She is a Fire Elementalist and possibly one of the best at hand-to-hand combat in the school, I think that's why some of the teachers are scared of her as well.
As I walk over to the table I hear what they're talking about. "Luke, I'm taller than you wether you like it or not!" Maddy states,
"Yeah right, I don't believe that for a second!" Luke replies. Oh god I think to myself. This had been a long running argument over the two of them, who was taller. I sigh at their bickering and sit down next to Maddy. "You do know you're both the same height guys?" I grumble, annoyed at the fact that my two friends are taller than my 5'7. Luke mumbles something incomprehensible and looks back down to his half eaten food, Maddy glares at me and I prepare myself for a lecture when her gaze focuses on someone behind me. I don't need to guess who it is and I wince as I hear someone say, "Who let you back this year?"
