Have you ever woke up one morning with your mind set on how your day will be and it turns to the complete opposite? Well, this was the case for me today.
Being the new kid in school already gets you noticed, but it's in the middle of November. I was definitely going to be everyone's topic of conversation. I HATE being the center of attention. So, I dressed in a white tee and ripped, light blue skinny jeans with black high tops. I brushed my long, wavy beach blonde hair and put on makeup to bring out my green eyes. Hopefully this won't give people attention at Jefferson High.
As I grab my bag, I step out of my room to go downstairs to eat breakfast. When I open the fridge, I see a bright green sticky note on the milk jug.
"Grace, I won't be back until tomorrow around 9pm because of long hours at the office. Call me tonight so I can hear about your first day! Love, Mom."
Why it was stuck to the milk, I have no idea. My mom was just like that. Ever since the car accident she has been trying to be more caring, but it never happens. When I call tonight, she'll be on for five minutes and say she has to conduct an important business meeting. This means a "conference" with a bottle of wine and a "presentation" to show the unfortunate fella sitting next to her at the hotel bar.
I grab a bottle of water, an apple, my lunch and head out the door. I need to get to school early so I can find my classes.
As I drive up to the school in my white Jeep Wrangler, I realize the parking lot is almost full.
Why are so many people early?
I look at the clock and realize I have five minutes until school starts.
"Shit," I said as I sped to a spot, cutting someone off. I got honked at, but I couldn't care less. As I grab my bag and got out of my car, a skinny blonde walks towards me ready to rip my head off.
I walk the other way to avoid confrontation and being late when all of a sudden,
"Who the hell do you think you are cutting my off like that!"
I just keep walking with hopes that she'll leave me alone, but I couldn't be more wrong.
Just as I get to the door, a hand grabs my shoulder to spin me around. I fall because my footing in that transaction was terrible and my bag drops making everything inside spread on the cement floors.
"When I'm talking to you, you don't walk away if you know what's best for you. I don't care if you are the 'new girl'. You will understand that I am the top bitch at this school. No one...."
"Give it a rest Sierra," a girls says. She was walking from the parking lot with two other guys. I swear to you they looked like they came straight from heaven. The girl had dark brown, curly hair with hazel eyes and was wearing a grey tee with black skinny jeans. One guy has red hair and brown eyes while the other has black hair and grey eyes. Both are very tan, muscular, and are tall. The girl popped out more because she was paler.
"This is none of your concern, McKenna," said the bitch I now know as Sierra.
"You know what?" I asked starting to get up. "If you know what's 'best for you,' you would walk away right now before a scene breaks out."
I normally don't get worked up like this, but she went beyond pissing me off. Great.
"And you think I'm afraid of a scene? How pathetic"! Sierra said as she rolled her eyes.
"Oh, did I not mention the scene was you all bloody from my fists introducing themselves to your face"?
Just as I said that the two guys stepped between us. The red head is pushing me back and the other is in front of Sierra.
"Just leave"! McKenna yelled. As Sierra slowly back away she flips me off then turns her back flipping her hair.
I was about to jump the bitch when the red head caught me. I was trying to shove him and he wouldn't budge. Looking amused by this he started to smirk. So I did what any girl would do, I punched him. All of a sudden he picks me up and puts me over his shoulder.
"Let me the fuck go!" I was so beyond pissed and this guy wasn't making me getting to Sierra easier.
"Nope. Even though I would love to see Sierra's ass get handed to, you doing that to her would be the biggest mistake you make for your first day. So many people worship her here so you would be scarred until graduation," stated the red head.
"Cal put her down," said a worried looking McKenna. I never noticed but she had pink nails. Actually, everything she has, excluding her outfit, is pink.
"Not until she's calmed down. Her heart's about to leap out of her chest, that's how worked up she is."
I guess he was right, even if I didn't want to admit it. The bell rang and we were standing there for like two minutes before he let me down.
Of course I fell from him letting me down. I am such a klutz. He asked if I was all right and apologized. I told him I was fine and that it wasn't his fault. I just calmly start to grab my folders and notebooks when the black haired dude started helping me. I looked at his watch and realized it is five after. I was definitely late and did not have an excuse that anyone would listen to.
"I wouldn't worry about being late," he said seeing that my face looked worried after looking at his watch. "The teachers here don't actually start class until ten after because so many people are late. They tried to enforce detentions, but too many kids were coming late. So they decided to give us ten extra minutes without actually telling us."
As I stood up we were standing in a circle.
"Um, thanks for stopping her," I said awkwardly, biting my lower lip. It was a habit I did when I become nervous.
"It's no problem," said McKenna. "Sierra just isn't use to people standing up to her."
"Which was fricken awesome"! said Cal laughing and high fiving with the guy with black hair. I still don't even know his name. He's the only one that actually helped me pick up my stuff.
"My name is McKenna and this is Cal and over here is Josh."
I smiled at all of them. Then I realized they wanted to know my name. Way to look like an idiot Grace.
"Oh, I'm sorry! My name is Grace."
"I'll take you to the office Grace. I want to see if we have any classes together. I have a feeling that we are going to be the greatest friends!" exclaimed McKenna.
She waved to the boys, who raised their eyebrows, as she linked her arm in mine and took off.
We walked to the main desk to get my schedule. Some how, I just knew this day was going to be filled with more complications.
