As I'm sitting here on the beach the sound of families laughing and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks brings me to another world. The sunset with its many mixing colors just relaxes my nerves and takes me to a different place. Exactly what I needed in my life.

My life is a bit of a disaster area. My father isn't the nicest person in the world... If you catch my drift. He can be abusive at times. Physically and mentally. He spends his nights after work yelling at me and telling me how much of a screw up I am and how I ruined our family. He even went as far as to telling me I was psychotic once.

My mother is a hard working woman who works tirelessly to pay the bills and to provide for me and my little brother. She says she cares about me but after two years of my step dads continuous drinking and yelling fits, I can tell what he says she is starting to think it. Which kind of sucks because she is supposed to be my best friend. But I do love her with all my heart, despite what everyone may think.

So to sum it up, my parents are not all that fond of me.

Since I am a senior I only have a few more months until I can leave my house.

You see my parents don't really spend much money on me, maybe the occasional package of Ramen Noodles and a Pepsi. But I've always worked to pay for my clothes and shoes or anything that I needed or wanted.

So to do that I had to get a job. I've had to work at as a waitress at a semi-fancy restaurant called 'Tony Romos' for the past year and a half to save up a lot of money to proceed with my plan.

My plan is to travel to places I've dreamed of since I was little; Costa Rica, New York, Paris, Barcelona, The Grand Canyon, To see the Northern Lights and more places like that. I'll be taking my little brother Sebastion (Sebby) with me, with the exception of me homeschooling him. Then after I go everywhere that I want to go, I am going to go to college at NYU

Money wasn't a problem for my grandparents so they agreed to help me pay for college on one condition, I become happy at some point in my life.

A beach ball hitting my side had knocked me out of my thoughts.

" I'm really sorry my friends are so stupid and don't know how to play volleyball," A guy with sandy brown hair said to me while retrieving his ball and flashing me a stunning smile.

I smiled back at him and said

" No worries, I needed to get up and go home anyways" I got up and brushed the sand off my shorts and waved goodbye.

I walked a couple feet and turned around to look at him but he was already running back to his group of friends.

Slowly walking back to my car I made sure to glance back at the beach. Taking a deep breath and holding it for a mere second then releasing it and unlocked my driver side door getting in and slamming it shut.

I drove a classic 1965' all original, sleek black mustang. What can I say, all American muscle cars are beauties.

It took me around 25 minutes to get home with the exception of a Jamba Juice stop. Pulling into the driveway I noticed that the lights in the house were on and his car was in the garage, which means I am walking into another one of my Father's yelling fits.

Upon opening the door I saw my little brother sitting on the couch watching a show I've never seen.

" Hey Sebby, how is my boy? " Walking to him he got up to give me a hug.

" I'm alright " He said in looking at me.

" Have you had dinner yet? " I questioned.

"Mac n cheese" He said turning his attention back to the TV.

Walking to my room I have not seen any sign of my Father, He must have gotten a ride with a friend to the bar again.

Thank the lord.

Making my way into my room I walked into my closet picking out a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt and shut my door so I could change.

My phone dinged signaling I had a text message. It was from my best friend Adeline, it read :

" Hey Em , You good?? <3 "

Adeline knows about my family situation and she checks in every night to make sure that I'm okay. We have been best friends since 3rd grade whenever she let me borrow her jacket when i spilled a juice box on my favorite shirt.

" He hasn't been home yet so I'm gonna catch some sleep. Thank you though. Goodnight love :) " I replied

I set my alarm for tomorrow and went to go get Sebby changed into his Spiderman pajamas, and he might only be 4. But that little boy can put up a fight.

Shortly after he was changed He stalked off to the bathroom to brush his teeth and when he came back I tucked him in soundly. Upon his request, a bedtime story about Superheroes ( I let my imagination run wild for that one).

That all took around 25 minutes and it had me feeling quite tired..

Once I got back to my room it was 9:34pm and crawled into my very comfortable bed and drifted into a peaceful sleep for once in a very long time.
