Stuck in between

Chapter 1

                                                                    - Maya -

"This year things will be different," I promised Jess as she lied in my bed, "But what if they aren't?" I shrugged, "They will be, but even if they aren't? Who cares? We will always have each other!" She smiled, "Promise?" I smirked holding out my pink, "Promise." She smiled, pulling me into a hug.

"We are gonna be late." I glanced at my phone before shaking my head. "We have just enough time." I promised. I reach for out outfits we laid out the night before, I put on my black crop top over my light ripped skinny jeans with my white & black Nikes & black cover. I put my M necklace on last, I've wore it every day since I was little.

While Jess on the other hand was wearing a teal crop top with black ripped skinny jeans with a white cover & black heels. She looked stunning, she added her necklaces last. She curled her brown hair while I straighten my black hair. I did my makeup simply as did Jess. "Come on Maya." She rushed me as I grabbed my phone & bag leading her to the my black jeep.

"Ready for the last first day of high school?" She smiled, "As ready as I'll ever be." We got in the car as I drove down the street towards our school. I pulled into my spot that I've had since freshman year, I smiled to myself before we climbed out of the car. I stood by my locker watching the people flood in.

When a group of guys past me, a group I've never seen before. Jess looked starstruck but so was I when I saw his smile. I grabbed Jess as she smiled at me like she had seen an angel. "Hey Jess & Maya." Mikey snap us out of our thoughts, Mikey introduced me to Jess actually. "Checking out the fresh meat I see."

I shook my head towards Mikey before glancing the guys way once more. "Lucas," His name made my head snap towards Jess. "Hey Maya. It's been a while." I gulped before meeting his eyes. "Not long enough." I had a bittersweet taste in my mouth, is it wrong? Lucas & I used to be something, no one knew what.

We didn't even know what we were, but it crashed & burned. He left me to burn because he found someone who was more fun & needed less. If it wasn't for Jess, I would still be burning alone. "Hey Jess." She didn't answer, she just stare at me like she was making sure I was okay. "Maya, we need to talk, you need to know something."

Jess's hand reached for mine, "No thanks." I smirked before dragging Jess & Mikey away from the devil. "I'm okay." She nodded not asking anything else. "I didn't know you didn't want to see him, sorry." Mikey said, my eyes shot up. I wanted to scream at him, tell him how awful that made me feel, how he should of known.

But, I smiled & told him "It's okay, you didn't know." I forced a smile before jess & I walked away. "I wonder if he's back," Jess glared at me cause he knew who I was talking about, I shut my mouth as we walked. I looked behind me to see Lucas following us, I started walking fasted causing me to bump into Jess who fell into new guys arms.

"I'm so sorry," I confessed lying in some nameless beauties arms. If I didn't know any better, id believe he was a god. I tried to be serious but it's hard when your best friend is laughing while winking at you. The guy chuckled helping me to my feet. I smiled, blushing hard. "You okay Jess?" Maya asked finally being serious.

"Yeah, thanks to him." I smiled towards the guy once more. "You can drop in anytime Jess." He smiled, "Thank you so much...." I trailed off not knowing his name. "I'm Matthew." his smile was heaven on earth, "This is Cameron, Shawn, Taylor & Carter." He said pointing to each of his friends, I waved as did Maya.
