I quietly traipsed into the kitchen, delicate and silent to prevent the waking my sleeping family. I walked over to the bread bin, the cold tiles under my bare feet sending cool prickles up my foot. I placed my right hand on the smooth plastic handle of the metal bread bin, and pulled upwards. A sweet aroma of the good ol' pack o' Warburtons wafted out and spread around the kitchen, like a rhino that had been unleashed from a smurf's house. Beautiful. I closed my eyes and inhaled the heavenly scent. My nose laughed like a satisfied salesman does when he manages to sell some carrots to an angry buffalo. I reached in with my floppy arms and grabbed the crinkled packet with my cold hands. I fiddled with the sticker that bound the packet of m'Warburtons shut. As I peeled the sticky paper away, breadcrumbs spilt out onto the table. I ran my smooth fingers over the rough surface, feeling the grains of soft breadcrumbs. Beautiful. After carefully lifting a slice of my 50/50 + Seeds loaf and sticking it into the toaster, I sat down on the kitchen floor and hummed a merry tune to myself; 'hmm hmmmm hmmm Hm Hm Hm hmmmmh mmmhhmmmm hmmmm hmmm hmmmm, hmm hmm hmmmmm hmmm hmm hmmmmhmmm hmmmmh mmhm hmmm hmmmmmmmhm mmmhhmmmm mmmmhmmm mhhmmmm hmmmmmm Mhmmmm hmmmmmmm Hm Hm Hm hmmmmmm hmmmmmmm mhmmmmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmmm mhmmmmm hmmmm hmmmmh my m mymmmm hmmmmmm hmmmmmhmmhhmm mmhhmm Mhmmmm hmmm hmm hmm hmm mhmm mmhhmm hmmmm Hm Hm hmmmmmmmmmm-' I jumped up, startled by the sudden outburst of the toaster, as the toast flew out and landed in the sink. I surprisedly peered over the edge of the sink. And what I saw horrified me.

There lay my beloved toast. Burnt and charred. Sizzling in the cool waters. Everything was bubbling. Charcoal stained my toast, sweat stained my shirt. Tears welled up in my eyes. Waterfalls of salty stress and prayer left my two devastated eyeballs and I looked down in lament. My beautiful toast was no more.

A/N - this is a tale of sadness, woe and regret. No innocent toasts were harmed in the making of this story. They will be forever loved and never forgotten. I love you, Tracy.
