She clung to her brother, tears streaming from her sightless blue eyes. Her face was a snotty, seven year old crying fit mess. "P-Please don't leave me!" she cried, sobbing into his shirt. Kenneth, brushed through her golden spirals with his hand, "I'm sorry Del, They'll be able to take care of you better than me." Despite his words, she kept crying. They hadn't yet reached the orphanage at which he had planned to leave her. It sounded bad, him leaving her,  but a thirteen year old couldn't possibly take care of his blind baby sister, so he was entrusting her care with one of the nicest orphanages within a few miles of Manchester Vermont. He carried her on his side, and pushed open the front door. He hushed his sister, silencing her cries as she still held fast to him, her thin arms tight around his neck. "H-Hello?" he called out, looking around the dim entryway, deciding against venturing forward. He called out again, but this time it was followed quickly by a husky woman barging in through a door, "Sorry, sorry, how long have you been here?" she rushed, looking at the two, "Ah never mind, are you both looking to stay here?" she asked. Ken shook his head, "N-No, I just want to leave my sister in your care," he said, patting her back and causing her to bring her face from it's place on his wet shoulder. She snapped her head and looked past the woman, "H-Hi," she said sweetly. The woman smiled and ruffled Dellie's hair, which made the young girl start, not expecting the gesture. Kenneth smiled worriedly at the woman, "My-My sister, she's blind, 'at's why I'm bringing her in, I can't take care of her well enough." The woman offered to take Dellie, but Ken put his sister on her feet, "So, you'll take her?" he asked, and the woman replied with a nod, "Thank you so much, please take good care of her, she gets scared in different places, but she's very sweet and quiet. Her name is Dellie, but we don't have a last name." The woman smiled warmly at him, "Of course, she'll be perfectly fine! I'm Ms. Moore by the way. May I catch your name too please?" "K-Kenneth," he replied, kneeling in front of his sister, "I'm sorry Del, when I get older I'll come back. You have to be good until then, so you can stay here, and I can find you." He kissed her forehead and held back tears, "I love you Dellie" he said, before turning and walking out. Ms. Moore took Dellie's hand, "We'll take good care of you here, if you just come with me, I'll show you to the girls' dormitory." Dellie whimpered, "It's very loud." Ms. Moore chortled, "Sorry about that, here, we're already in the dormitory. I'll take you to the spare bed in the back." Ms. Moore pulled the small girl along, before picking her up and planting her on a cot with a thin mattress.
