"Twenty-two grand." He mumbled as he handed me the gun across the table.
My hand came into contact with the gun, a feeling I was all too familiar with.
I looked into my father's eyes, "That's a lot of money." I said as I looked down at the gun in my hand. It was a 22 with a silencer on it.
He nodded and folded his hands on the table. He glanced at all the pills, weed, bags filled with white powder, and money scattered all over the table.
"And we're in debt. We need it, and we need it fast." He said whilst breathing out.
My father never gave me the details, he just told me what to do, and why I had to.
"You're going after a man named Jacob, after you're done getting the money I want him dead, do you understand?"
I nodded, listening to his slow words. "Is there anywhere specific I can find him?" I asked, trying to narrow down my hunt.
My father paused as he gathered some of the money on the table, "No; however, his whereabouts are usually close to home. You'll definitely know him when you see him. He has a scar on his cheek, and bright blue eyes."
I stood, taking in the information. I guess I'll try and do some club hopping tonight and ask people a few questions.
"Oh, son." My father said as he stood also. I looked at him, "Yes?"
"Make sure that before you put a bullet between his eyes, tell him never to fuck with a Malik." With those words he gave me a firm handshake, and in that handshake he handed me a stack of cash.
I smirked as I surpressed a chuckle, "Of course."
Without anymore words being spoken I walked out of the old, run down apartment, shutting the door behind me.
I walked out of the building and looked around as I put the gun into my leather jacket. It was always quiet around here after it passed ten o'clock. I lit a cigarette, and fixed my jacket and kept walking.
My destination was to the first club, I needed as much information on this Jacob guy as I could get. If he's close to home it shouldn't be that difficult.
-
Loud music, and heat was the first thing that hit me as I walked through the door. Many people were here tonight, more than usual.
I walked in casually looking around and giving head nods to a few people as I did so.
A few girls already tried throwing themselves on me, but I politely declined as for that wasn't my main goal tonight.
I walked over to the small bar serving drinks and sat down on one of the stools.
"Hey, Z." said low voice that came from behind me. A small smile crept onto my lips as I realized who it was.
"Hey, Jawaad." It was my younger cousin, he was always in clubs every day of the week. I swear he might as well own one.
He laughed as he seated himself next to me and nodded to the bartender.
The bartender started making drinks right away, I noticed my cousin gets his way in every club that he's in.
"What brings you around here tonight? It's a Thursday."
I nodded and tapped on the counter, "I know. My father has me on a case right now."
"Ah, how is Uncle doing by the way?" He asked.
"Pretty good, you know how he is.." I said as I sighed, "Even if he did have something wrong with him, I wouldn't know."
He laughed, "Yeah that's true." He looked over at the bartender as he handed us our drinks. "Thanks, Rich."
"No problem man." He responded as he went about with other people's orders.
Jawaad handed me a drink, sipping out of his. "So.. What's this mission he has you on?"
I sipped the beer as I looked over at my cousin, "I'm looking for a guy named Jacob. Supposedly he has a scar on his cheek. I'm not sure which side, but that's what my father told me... Oh and blue eyes."
He nodded, "Yeah I know who you're talking about. He's in here sometimes. Not a lot. I'm sure he hops around from place to place. Try checking around tonight at other places because he definitely isn't here. If he happens to show up I'll ring you."
I took another sip from the cold bottle as I stood, "Thanks J."
"No problem Z, you know I always got you." He disappeared into the dancing crowd after that.
I walked out of the packed club and headed for the next one. I'm not really sure if tonight is going to be a successful one.
