That friend

Are you that type of person who is completely dedicated to her boyfriend? Someone who spends her time with her significant other? Tries her best to please his sorry ass? Oh and also neglects her best friend completely after she’s taken?

If you said no, then you probably are.

I don’t know much about love. Hell, I’ve yet to be in a serious relationship. But, then again it’s high school. I don’t think I’ll find my ‘soulmate’ or ‘true love’ like my friends constantly ramble on and on about. Talk about unrealistic idiots (they’re idiots, but I love them-ish).

Maybe that’s why I’m not the one with tears flooding her face and mascara running down her cheeks because her boyfriend broke up with her. For the tenth time. Talk about a hot mess.

“I c-can’t believe he would do this t-to m-me, to us!” Megan burst into more tears and I flinched at her sudden outburst.

What do you say to a friend you haven’t talked to in months when her off and on boyfriend breaks up with her? Was it, ‘he’s just a dick!’ or, ‘you could do so much better without him!’

I should really read those ‘how to get over him’ magazines to repeat to my friends. But, Megan and Eric have been on and off since freshman year. I don’t think it would be good to talk shit about him, but then again…

“Calm down Megan, nothing set and stone right?” I said hopefully, this was probably the next best thing I could think of. I know I’m not the best go to girl for advices. I’m working on it.

I began to pat Megan’s back. Her teary, red rimmed eyes were evident. She sniffed, finally calming down from her major break down, “but, he said forever, Erica.”

Knowing Megan she probably asked him if they would be forever and Eric shat his pants. Given his personality, he wasn’t good under pressure and choked out the words yes. At times I felt bad for boys, if he had said no, his sorry ass wouldn’t get it for a whole month.

Though, he probably won’t get it anytime soon.

“Have you talked to him properly yet? What happened?” I asked. I had no stinking idea why Megan was at my house. I was on the phone when my doorbell rang and Megan appeared, crying her eyes out.

I gulped, it’s been a while since I had any decent conversation with her. I placed hot chocolate on the table.

Megan wiped her tears, finally regaining composure. She drank down the hot chocolate and started to speak, “So I was at this party…”

Oh shit what did I get myself into? Or the better question would be why the hell is she in my house? Just months ago she was too ‘busy’ to hang out with me.  It was a grudge I held personally (though I tried to let it go). Still, it sucked being the second choice.

Oh lord, I’m starting to sound like some nice guy that got stuck with a girl that wouldn’t look his way until her boyfriend decided to be an asscrack and she decided to cry into Mr. Nice guy’s arm. Only to be left alone as soon as she made up with her boyfriend.

“And I was having a good time and all,” I broke out of my trance while Megan blabbed about the party events.

A party I wasn’t invited to, well, let’s just say I’m not a party girl people and I’m a self proclaimed hermit when I’m not in school. Plus, I have no energy or will to go to one.

For example, why would I waste a perfectly Friday night going to a house filled with sweaty ass teenagers that I barely know dancing and grinding?…That’s gross.
