It was midnight in Elmore, and everyone was asleep. Well, almost everyone. Two best friends sat in the grass of their backyard, staring up at the stars. It had been a tough day for both of them. Fighting Tobias in the back of the school could tire anyone out. But this time was different for the two boys. Tobias had beat Gumball up pretty well, and told him he was nothing but a good-for-nothing looser, sending the twelve-year-old to flee from the school crying. Darwin had followed him and, a half hour later, found him laying in the grass, staring at the stars. Darwin didn't know if he wanted to just walk over and lay next to him until he heard his best friend pat the grass next to him. So now, there they were, laying in the grass, staring up at the stars. A perfect silence until Gumball broke it.

"H-hey, Darwin?"
"Mm?" Darwin knew exactly where this was going.
"D-do you think I'm a good-for-nothing looser?" Darwin saw the tears threatening to fall from the blue cat's eyes, and pulled him close to him.
"Gumball Watterson, you are far from being any of that. That's what Tobias is. You are a perfect, talented, handsome, and amazing brother and best friend. And I know not everyone may love you, but you have friends and family who love you dearly. E-especially me...." The fish-boy mumbled, and blushed. Gumball's eyes widened at this, and he blushed as well. He never knew Darwin felt like this. Did he feel the same? He wasn't really sure. After he had broken up with Penny only a few months before, he didn't really remember what love and affection felt like. Maybe he did love his brother, his best friend like that?
"D-Darwin...." Darwin knew what was coming.
"It's okay." He mumbled. "I know it's creepy."
"N-no. It's not creepy...I just....I don't know what to say....I.....ugh." Gumball groaned before sitting up, turning towards his brother, and brought their lips together quickly before pulling back.
Darwin sat there, taken aback at the new sign of affection Gumball had just given him. He blushed, before taking his brother's shoulders, pulling him closer, and brushing his lips against his own. They both felt it. A spark. I huge spark. Gumball considered if the spark was bigger than the ones he felt with Penny. After a few seconds, they pulled away gently, blushing furiously.
They both soon found themselves cuddled up against each other, lying in the grass once more.
"Gumball?"
"Hmm?"
"I-I love you..."
"Love you, too, Bubble Cheeks."

Just a kiss on the lips in the moonlight.
Just a touch of the fire burning so bright
