The sound of Jade's phone buzzing woke her up with a start. Her unruly mess of wavy black hair had cascaded over her shoulder and down her back, sprawling out in all directions as she ran her hand through her hair. She had to comb out a few tangles with her fingers before she could even free her hand.
The green eyed girl had the worst case of bed head she had ever seen, yet again, she didn't have many people to compare it to.
Her Grandpa had moved her out to " the island " to live with him after the death of her parents. Jade wasn't too upset, she hadn't known them well enough. But it would cause her to lie awake at night and wonder what it would have been like to actually have parents.
Jade reached her hand out to her nightstand, instantly finding her glasses and sliding them into her face. Blinking a couple times before her eyes adjusted to her new and improved sight.
Oh right, her phone. Jade unplugged it from the charger and sat up in her bed. Clicking the home button and having her phone light up, a galaxy background was displayed on her screen and then was quickly covered in text notifications and notifications from the many games she played on her phone. 10:13, great, she had slept in again.
She quickly typed in her code ' 2322 ' . It stranded for her dog named Bec, but because it wouldn't let her have a three-digit password. She added on an extra C because why not and Jade considered it kinda cute.
Once she had successfully unlocked her phone, Jade looked at her messages. She hated being in different time zones then her friends. That meant the girl never got the messages at the time her friends sent them. Making communication rather difficult.
The first message she answered was from her friend John. They had been friends the longest out of the bunch. She had meet John on some type of chat room on her quest for new friends. He introduced her to Rose and Dave who over time had became her best friends.
Jade clicked on his name which was ' John 💙 ' in her phone. She liked the heart emoji's next to everyone name. Rose getting a purple one and Dave getting a red one. Their respective favorite colors. Jade had been pestering them about putting the green heart next to her name. And so far it seemed Rose had complied some what and put the Dog emoji next to Jade's name in her phone.
Jade looked at her phone with a confused expression. This group chat was new. It seemed to contain all of her friends anyways. She only really had three, John, Rose and Dave.  She opened the chat to find loads of messages, scrolling up to the top, the girl began reading. John had suggested a skype movie ( which is where they all got on skype together and attempted to watch a movie at the same time ) and once the two blondes ( Dave and Rose ) had agreed to it. The three friends began to argue about which movie to see. Rose wanting horror, Dave wanting action and John wanting comedy.
Jade inhaled then exhaled as she finished reading through the messages. Thinking of a response to type back after a while she decided on ' good morning !! Sorry I feel asleep 😅 I think a skype movie would be great !! ' then after hitting send, she exited out of the chat. John was probably the only one awake. He was closest to her, followed by Dave and Rose being the furthest.
Hmm, it seemed Dave also messaged her. But this time it was out of the group. It must have been while she was asleep. He was complaining about her  " emoji addiction " . Which Jade didn't believe she had. She just found those things far too cute to not include in almost all of her messages. She giggled then typed back ' awww but daveeee they're just so cute !! 😊 like look at this cute little doggie 🐶 and there's a cute little kitty with heart eyes 😻😻. You're just not giving them a chance 😢 ' she then hit send and stood up and stretched her arms above her head. Her over sized tee shirt extending to her knees as she stood.
Jade had no idea where her stash of large tee shirts came from, but she certainly was not complaining. They were awfully comfy and perfect for sleeping in.  One day they just showed up, she was pretty sure they belong to her grandfather but Jade wasn't completely sure that was their original owner. Most of  them wouldn't make sense for her grandfather to own. This one was an exception to the rule. It was a black shirt with white writing and it was for a museum somewhere across the world. She didn't know the language
Her grandfather enjoyed traveling, which left Jade alone for most of the time. Which she didn't mind and actually kinda enjoyed. The loneliness sometimes made her feel rather depressed and she would sit on the floor with Bec for hours waiting for her friends to get back online.
Her grandfather was currently away at the moment, which left Jade free to wake up at whatever time she pleased. He usually would have her wake up bright and early to get started adventuring or doing some type of work around the house or just to take a walk. He always had a reason.
Jade made her way into the kitchen, pulling her mess of hair into a ponytail. And then pushed her bangs away from her face but after a while they fell back onto her forehead. The girl opened the pantry and looked for possible signs of food. Most of it was in cans. Jade was tired of eating from cans.
She pulled out a thing of pancake mix and opened the box. The noise causing Bec to awaken from his slumber on the couch and Trot in the kitchen to wonder what was going on. Bec was large, white and fluffy and was the best dog Jade could ask for. She hoped he had skills making pancakes because she really didn't. Jade quickly slide open her phone again and messaged the group chat ' does anyone know how to make pancakes 😊'
