Adina's POV

I have five minutes till I have to be at my new job. Great first impression Adina I thought to myself. As I made my way down the busy streets of New York trying to speed walk as fast as I could in my heels

God I hate heels why can't women just wear comfortable flats and still look hot and fierce

I checked the time on my watch to see I only had two minutes at most to get to the office I decided to take off my heels and sprint not giving two shíts about the weird looks I got from people passing by, as I approached the tall glass tinted skyscraper, I rushed inside trying to save time

"Good morning welcome to King Heights, how can I help you?" Said a young women with an impressive tight neat bun set on top of her head how does she do her bun so perfectly without any fly aways and it's exactly on the middle of her head I can't even archive a messy bun "...miss, hello how can I help you?" The woman said awkwardly due to me gawking at her head. "Oh yeah sorry um I'm Adina Mr. Kings new assistant I was wondering if you could tell me which floor to go to?" I said with a blush rising upon my cheeks "nice to meet you Adina, I'm Isabella and you can take a lift to the fortieth floor which is where Mr. Kings office is" she said with a warm smile "thank you so much Isabella" I said rushing off to the lift not wanting to be later than I already was "no problem, have a good day" she called after me.

As I entered the lift it was awkward since I was sweating from my run this morning and I was in a lift full of men in expensive suits who all looked at me disapprovingly from head to toe as I felt heat rise to my cheeks from embarrassment I swear I can do better it's just the wrong day ugh I hate being caught looking my worst as the lift dinged, I quickly rushed out remembering to put my heels back on.

I walk down the hallway finger combing my hair and spraying a little perfume before walking up to another reception.
"Hi I'm Adina...Mr.Kings new assistant" I said to the woman who looked busy on a phone call she motioned for me to go towards a door that had Nicholas King written in gold letter.

I took a deep breath you got this one Adina just walk in and introduce yourself and don't stutter or embarrass yourself either  I pep talked myself before doing three stern knocks on the door. "come in" a deep voice called out, I turned the knob and slowly walked in "Hi I'm Adina your new assist-" he didn't even look up "you're late, you should be glad I haven't even fired you yet" he said in an emotionless voice "what are you still doing just standing around? there are calls to be answered and files to be sorted" he said in an annoyed tone " ye-yes sir" I quickly said before rushing out of his office

why is he so rude he didn't even look up or say welcome

I walked into my new office that had a large glass window where I could see the whole of New York. I placed my belonging in my drawer and placed the photo frame of my best friend Allie and I on my desk and decided to turn on my computer and start my work.

After about four hours I had gotten hungry and decided to leave for my lunch break. Maybe I should be nice and ask Mr. King whether he wanted me to bring him some lunch As I walked towards his door and knocking on it he said for me to come in. "Hi sir, I was heading off to lunch and I-I was wondering if you wanted me to bring you anything?" I asked. He looked up to me with his beautiful brown eyes and a frown set upon his face "I'm not hungry" he said before going back to doing his work "ok sorry for bothering you" I said before turning around and leaving. Does he hate me or something?

I exited the lift and started to make my way to the main doors, Isabella waved her hand at me as I smiled and waved back before exciting the building hmm what do you feel like for lunch I said to my growling stomach I googled the nearest restaurants and decided on going to this funky hipster burger place that was only a block away.

I walked into the restaurant getting a good waft of chicken being grilled and hot fries which made my mouth water, I looked over the menu being overwhelmed with the delicious range of burgers, wraps and salads they had "hey how can I help you" a bubbly girl with red curly hair and a nose piercing said towards me "um I think I'll just get the..." Quick just chose one Adina you're making her wait "...I'll just get the classic BLT burger in a meal please" I said to the waitress " Is that in a small,regular or large?" She said while writing on her notepad "I'll get the regular" "ok and what drink was it that you wanted to have?" She asked while pointing to the fridge filled with Soda's, juices and water "I'll just get water please" I said as soon as I felt my mouth was dry "ok your meal should be brought to you in about five minutes"

As I waited for my food, I decided to just watch people walk by on the streets, from men in suits speed walking down the street on the phone, to tourists taking pictures at time square. I need to go sight seeing one day actually

The waiter had returned with my meal and water "wow this is a big burger" I said looking at the huge burger sitting in front of me "It is pretty big, enjoy" the girl with red hair said laughing I actually can finish this I just didn't want to seem like a pig. I started devouring my burger and freshly cut fries mmm sooo good

I had returned back to the office and just finished organising the last meeting that Mr. King had tomorrow and turned off my computer. I stood up and stretched since my back was so tight "aahhh that's the spot" I said after hearing the cracking noise in my back. I checked the time and it was 11:45pm damn time goes by so fast! I must get going home

I walked over to Mr.Kings office should I call him Mr.King or Nicholas? I think I'll stick with sir for now I was going to knock but realised that the door was wide open already here we go again with the rude attitude I thought to myself "sir I just thought to let you know I'm going home now...did you need me to do anything?" He looked up from a file he was reading and looked outside furrowing his eyebrows not realising it was already going to midnight "no I don't need anything...have a safe trip home..Miss Jones" he said in his business voice but without a smile have a safe trip home.. hmm first positive remark from Mr. Grumpypants a smile crept onto my face "thank you sir... see you tomorrow" I said "don't be late otherwise I won't hesitate to fire you and replace you" he said returning to his mean self "yes sir I will be here bright and early" I told him confidently before walking out of his office I heard a small grunt and mumbles. Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed geez

I entered my Mini Cooper and decided to drive home. What a long day I wonder why he's so mean though I've been nothing but nice to him, I feel like he has a reason why he's like that he seems so guarded.
