"W-what do you mean?... Dead?" I stammered,
"A passerby found her. She was found outside the multi-storey car park at the edge of town. Her car was at the top" PC Hardy explained. I took a deep breath, my mind going into overdrive as I thought about her lifeless body being found by some stranger.
"When?"
"About an hour ago, sir" PC Hardy replied. I took another deep breath, my face buried into my hands as I let a few tears run down my cheeks. Maybe this was just a dream and I would wake up as soon as I opened my eyes again. I swiftly wiped my eyes and removed my hands from over my face. I sighed as PC Plum and PC Plod were still sat opposite me.
"Is there anybody we can call?" PC Fleming questioned. I shook my head. My eyes began to wonder across the room, before they landed on a picture of the two of us. I slowly got up and made my way over to it. A lump formed in my throat as I picked it up and realized this was all I had left of her, pictures, memories, that would soon fade.
"Sir, We will need to inform Mrs Graysmith's parents" PC Hardy announced. I looked at the picture for a few moments longer, before I quickly put it down and turned to face PC Hardy. "I can do it. I want you to tell me more about her. What else did you find?" I questioned, as I made my way back over to the sofa to sit down. "There's not much we can tell at this stage I'm afraid Mr Graysmith" PC Hardy explained.
I instantly slammed my fists against the coffee table "THIS IS MY DEAD WIFE!" I roared.
"Sir, we need you to calm down" PC Fleming said sensitively. I paused and looked up at him.
"Calm down... Calm down?" I questioned "My wife has just died and you're telling me to calm down?" I added.
"Yes sir" PC Hardy interjected.
I immediately felt his words flick a switch inside of me as I abruptly let out a blood-curling scream, before I reached over to the coffee table and violently flipped it over. The two officers immediately jumped up and grabbed me "GET OFF ME!" I yelled, as they twisted my arm behind my back "Sir, you need to calm down!" PC Fleming instructed, I ignored his plea and continued to struggle "Sir-"
"SHUT UP!" I roared, before I span around and struck him in the face. I instantly regretted the action as I was forced down against the sofa, and abruptly handcuffed.
"Edward Graysmith, You're under arrest for assault"

I slowly woke up, my head pounded with such force it felt as though it was going to explode. I sluggishly got up and gradually looked around the dinghy cell that I had spent the night in- last night's antics a blur, but one thing was clear- My wife was dead.
Suddenly, an un-nerving thud sounded from the cell door, I watched it intensely as it slowly creaked open, My heart dropped down to my stomach as I recognised the man stood in the doorway of the cell- It was Elizabeth's father.
"Come" He said, before he leisurely turned around and walked back down the hallway.
"Maxwell" I yelled, before I quickly got up and went after him. I took a deep breath to steady my nerves, as I watched him intensely, his back to me, He cleared his throat and slowly turned around. His icy blue eyes locked with mine and sent a shiver down my spine.
"Just come with me please" He said, deadpan.
I swallowed the forming lump in my throat, I'd always found Elizabeth's father intimidating, but he terrified me now, was he going to hold me responsible for her death? Would he blame me?
I nervously followed him through the narrow hallway, to a small reception desk, where a middle-aged bald man was sat despondently behind the desk. He immediately sat upright as Maxwell approached the desk.
