The moonlight shined through my glass paned window as it shattered to colored rays in which filled my white dress. The lone candle lit my room as I heard others laughing in the main hall. Happy music danced through my room and tempted me to leave, but too captivated by the red tint of the moon to move. I felt the urge to sing but held it back and sighed once the urge disappeared.
"when will a day be when someone comes for me," I spoke out loud to myself as I pondered the thought.
I was never big on masquerades, in which my parents happily spent their times hosting, nor was I pleased by the idea of being selected by me like cattle.
"Men are such pigs. They chose a girl in which fancies them and leave the good ones behind or to toy with," I looked down at my dress, clearly upset, "even though I dressed so nicely. They don't even bat an eye at me."
A gust of wind trickled through my hair as the screeching of my window slowly opened. The candle light shone no more and there stood a silhouette in front of the moon. I moved away as fast as I could and grabbed the candlestick with what was left of the melted candle.
"If you move, I will spray hot wax onto you and scream," the screaming part was only a futile attempt to make the intruder leave.
A soft and soothing male voice came from the silhouette, "I am terribly sorry. I did not mean to cause any trouble. I just heard you where lonely and I wanted to take a lovely lady, such as yourself, to a dance."
Even though mystery allured me, I did not let such words woo me. The figure moved slightly and I gripped the candlestick tighter. The figure seemingly glide to the floor and walked to the door of my room.
"This is a masquerade, where everyone dances with strangers," the man said as he slightly opened the door.
There stood a man that looked almost like royalty. He wore all black with golden linings and wore a black mask. His black hair seemed to be a mess and his white skin, as white as my dress. His blue eyes exerted honesty and tranquility. Before I knew what I was doing, I had already taken his hand.
He pulled me to a crowd of others as a slow melody arose. His hand on my hip, gently to the point of which he barely touched. My hand in his as if he held a delicate flower. We began to move and spin slowly as the world around us began to vanish.
"Why are you not wearing a mask?" He asked as I saw a smile form upon his face.
"For my parents to spot me easily of course. Is there something wrong with that?" I asked as I rose an eyebrow. I knew that being lady like in front of a man was expected but I believed in being myself in which a man does not fall for a fake.
"No, there is nothing wrong with that," his smile became softer, "it is better to see your beauty this way."
I laughed under my breath as I replied, "to which do I give the thanks to such gentleman?"
"My name is Victor De Trel," he bowed as he held my hand gently, "may I ask for such a beauty as yourself's name?"
"Julia Antanette," I smiled at him. Rarely do men compliment me but none do it so honestly and pure.
The bell rang three times and interrupted the music. I heard my father announce that everyone must go for it is now midnight. I looked at him in horror as I realized what short time we had together.
He pulled me back to my room and closed the door. The moon made the room seem bright and I could see Victor clearly. I felt horror as I thought I would never see him again.
"May I give you a parting gift?" He asked me as we stared into each others eyes.
"What may have felt like seconds was hours that we danced tonight Ms.Antanette," He looked down as his blue eyes dimmed.
"May we meet again?" I asked as I walked to him. I wished to stay by him for a little more longer. I felt captivated by him as if no one else in the world was there but him.
"May I give you a parting gift?" He asked again.
"If you wish to do so."
I felt his hand gently pull me close from my waster as his other hand caressed my face. I stared into his blue eyes as he slowly leaned closer to me. With astonishment, he pressed his lips against mine. The warmth of his lips traveled to mine as a shock of energy went through. My legs became weak and I closed my eyes blissfully. I wrapped my arms around him gently as his kiss and as he pulled away slowly, my lips yearned for more. He moved away from my grasp slowly and I saw the same tranquil eyes as before.
"Farewell Ms.Antanette," he spoke softly and climbed through my window.
As he jumped I ran to the window to watch him run off. Though he seemed to only disappear in the garden that grows beside my windowsill. I waved to the night sky and blew him a kiss as I hoped he would see and closed the window.
I rested upon my bed as visions and thoughts of him rang. I smiled as I felt myself slowly going to sleep.
"May we meet again Victor De Trel."
