dormant storm

everything looked prettier on paper, and when i wrote my name next to yours i thought that we could be beautiful together. you wanted us to love under your holy spirit, but i failed you - i have become your disappointment, the kind you sweep under carpets and avoid in conversation. my name could be a sin and no one would be surprised.

you suffocated me so i dove in that river-sillas, hoping i would sink.

love me, i wanted to say, take me with you. but i'm no jesus-worshiping-bible-bumper and i don't know how to pick burning books out of the fire without getting branded in return.

your narrowed eyes were open,
plastered to the back of your head
with baby-blue plastic blinders
facing the world head-on.
