Evan Johnson. That was me. The boy you should never talk to or look at, or your soul will turn to stone. Or something like that. That was the rumor that was started when I first started middle school. Now, no one ever looks me in the eye. Even in high school.

I didn't have any friends at school, but I did outside of school. A couple of kids from our rival school. Ronnie, Chip, and Kemper. The fellows always met up  at a old joint called Dutchies's.  That was the local place in town that you could get the greasiest food ever and a great hamburger at that.

Okay, I'm getting hungry.

Let's get to my current situation.

I just got to school and averted my eyes to the ground as I heard short murmurs through the hallways of Eastview High School. Once I got everything from locker that I need I started to go to Science.

I tensed up as I felt a tap on my shoulder.

Was this another prank? Another laugh for the 'popular' people? This action angered me, so to refrain from punching from stupid prick in the face I ignore the tap and go on.

"W-Wait!" I turn around to the female's voice.

This girl wasn't familiar at all. Her face didn't ring a single bell in my mind. Her doll-like face looked up at me with big blue doll eyes. Her black bob hair was neatly groomed. The school uniform seemed to almost be made for her. Her button up's sleeves were rolled up to her elbows. Her skirt went mid-thigh which was almost near her knee high socks.

"I'm new here and-d.." She nervously picked at her nails,"Can you help me find my Science class?"

A girl spoke to me. Me, Evan Johnson the weird boy of Eastview High School. I pitied her. She'd probably wouldn't have any friends now because of me.

"I..I would, but no one would want to befriend you or ignore you like they do me if I do so" My voice came out raspy as I tried to explain to her.

"That's fine. I don't mind having just one friend. I didn't have any at my other school." She giggled, but it wasn't a 'Ha nice joke' laugh, it was more self-pity laugh.

I shrugged and brought her to class along with me. I took my seat in the very back of the class as students began to flood into their seats. No one sat beside me.

Heck even Smelly Seth was as far as he could be from me.

"Ah Ms.Sawyer welcome. I'm Mr.Garrison. Wanna introduce yourself to the class?"

The class murmured things such as,"That's the girl that talked to you know who." Or "Don't talk to her.", but she stood tall and put on a smile.

"Hello! I'm Hope Sawyer. I'm 16. I moved schools from Archwood High School because of bullying and also," She looked over at me with a warm expression on her face. "That boy was nice enough to show me to this class yet none of you that I asked helped. At all. Maybe you should rethink who you're ignoring."

"You may sit." Mr. Garrison smiled at that.

She sat right beside me and gave me a wave plus a grin. Hope was the first person that had talked to me (in school) since I was in middle school.

There was something about this girl that I knew was going to change my life.
