A/N Helloooo! So this is obviously the first chapter! I started writing this in August and I am almost done with the entire story, but I wanted to post it now. Before you read I just want to point out that this story takes place in a random town in Virginia and the characters are all juniors in High School. I also based my characters on the movie, not so much the musical. Also every chapter is going to be a lyric from Hamilton because why not. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it and I do not own Les Mis because I am not that awesome.
Walking into the school was the hardest part, and having to deal with the stares of the curious students was the icing on the cake. Being the "new girl" was a recurring part of Jordan's life that she has finally gotten used to after several years of moving from place to place with her family. As a kid, she was often confused as to why she had to leave her home and settle down elsewhere, but as she grew older she realized it had to do with her father being in the army. Despite the fact it was annoying and hard having to relocate every couple of years, she tried to put on a happy face and deal with it. Five schools in sixteen years; it could be a record, but with all the experience, she was a pro at dealing with the stares, the gossip, making new friends, and avoiding the idiot boys trying to get in her pants.
She walked inside the large building, instantly getting hit with the energy of the bustling students as they flooded the school, talking and wandering down the hallways. She clutched her bag tightly at her side, as she walked down the hallway, keeping her head up high, not showing any sort of vulnerability. Once she was farther down the corridor she reached into her pocket and took out the small slip of paper in that read "19," indicating her locker number. Looking at the tall, blue metal lockers surrounding her, she saw that she was getting close to her number.
"17...18....19?" she murmured to herself, but froze confused as to why there was already a boy taking books out of what she thought would be her locker and into his bag. The boy turned around, hearing her voice, and stared at her quizzically. No one said a word, both of them waited for someone to speak up first.
The boy's messy brown curls fell into his hazel eyes, so he swept them back with a stroke of his hand, though the curls bounced back and fell into their normal state on his forehead. "Can I help you with something?" He asked, a small smile playing at his lips as he shut his locker.
Jordan took a deep breath and held out the small piece of paper with the number on it, "I think this is my new locker...but I guess you beat me to it?" It came out almost as a question, trying to add some humor into the awkward situation.
The boy took the paper in his hand, taking a second to figure out what the confusion was, and after a moment of examination he lifted his eyes to meet hers, pressing his lips into a thin line. When she quirked an eyebrow, he then flipped the paper upside down to change the number from a "19" to a "61."
She sighed.
He chuckled lightly and held the small slip out for her to take back, "I think that's your locker number." He crossed his arms.
She mentally slapped herself, wondering how she already managed to mess something up, only being there for not even five minutes,"Sorry, uh, Thanks."
The brown haired boy shook his head, brushing off her apology, "No, it's fine. It's just down the hall and to your right." He gestured with his hand.
She muttered a "thanks" and started to walk away, but quickly discovered that the boy was suddenly walking by her side, accompanying her on her walk. Confused by this, she slowly turned her head and gave him an awkward smile.
