6 Months After Arrival

Have you ever wondered what happens after death? Like where do you go? Is there nothing but a dark abyss of nothingness? Are you even aware of yourself being dead? These were the thoughts running through my mind on a gloomy October night.
I stared at the ceiling, the shadows cast an eerie look onto it. They made it look like a horror scene was about to go down. Great, just great. That's the last thing I want to be thinking about. I already have enough things to ponder let alone the monsters in my closet. I groaned and rolled over. The wall wasn't much better, to be honest. So I just shut my eyes. That's when all hell broke loose.
"Braelynn how much longer are you going to hide?"
"You don't have much time."
"Stop wasting our time."
"Finish the job."
I clumsily got out of bed, trying to distract myself, the voices in my head continuously got louder.
"Braelynn if you don't get your act together you'll end up like your mother."
I gripped the wall trying not to crumple to the ground. My head was pounding in my hand.
"BRAELYNN LISTEN TO US!"
I grimaced against the pain. I grabbed a pillow and repeatedly started smacking my head,"Get out. Get Out. GET OUT. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"
"Brae honey, are you okay?" I looked up to see my mom staring at me, her hair disheveled, and her eyes searched mine worriedly.
I stumbled across my pristine room to her and grabbed her hands, "I'm fine I promise," I said with a reassuring smile.
She looked at me quizzically then sighed exhausted,"Ok honey, let me tuck you in." I walked over to my bed and I climbed in. She came over and tucked in my sixteen year old self. A little old, I know, that's what I told her. She kissed my forehead and stroked my boring straight, brown hair. Then she left my room. I was awake for the rest of the night, waiting for the voices to come back. They never did. Instead, they left me with a gnawing fear in my stomach and a task waiting to be completed. The only problem was, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
