The Difference Between You and Me

Chapter Zero

Do you ever have that one person who you can't seem to figure out no matter how hard you try. Like you could be around them none stop and still never figure them out, they were different but you couldn't figure out what made them different. No matter how hard you tried you just would never truly know them.

Rin was like that, he was such a mysterious person, he would answer any questions you had about him. It's not like he was trying to be mysterious or anything he just kinda was. I never could figure him out; he was very nice and he would always joke around with everyone. He was always happy, it's like nobody could get to him no matter what they said. I don't know how he did it.
I wanted to be happy just like him and I always tried I did everything from faking it to doing something fun I just never could enjoy it. It all changed when I met him, he was my best friend and he meant the world to me. Whenever I was around him he just seemed to brighten my day a little I'm not saying he made me they happiest girl in the world or anything, none of that cheesey crap, I'm just saying that he made me smile once in a while. I wasn't always happy while around him but I did have my moments once in a while.

Before I go any further about talking about him I should probably tell you about myself. My name is Lenny, I am 19 years young. I was diagnosed with anxiety when I was 12. I am an only child, I grew up in a small little house with my mom and dad. My parents died when I was 18. My mom died of cancer and my father committed suicide a little while after she died. He wouldn't look at me after she died. One day I got fed up with him ignoring me so I started screaming at gim begging him to just look at me. He finally looked at me after a month of pretending I was no longer there. He ran out after that. I saw him the next day. I didn't expect to see him there but there he was. He was on the tv, the headline read 'Man Drives off Cliff' I didn't  know who they were talking about until I saw the picture of the vehicle. It was my dads red van. I thought for sure it couldn't have been him until it showed the license plate. I miss them so much. After all of that I moved to California to start a new life, I had enough money to rent an apartment for a month or so but I need to get a job soon because if I don't I will starve!

Okay, since I told you about myself I should tell you about Rin. Rin is 20 years young. He is very out going and nice. He grew up in a nice house with his mom. His dad went to jail when he was ten for abusing his mother and then after his mother got a restraining order on him he kidnapped Rin. When the found Rin he was half dead from his dad starving him saying that he was to ungrateful and doesn't deserve to eat and that he should just die. He lives in California with his mom her new husband and younger brother and soon to be sister.
