RACHEL POV

I can't believe we almost forgot about Roxie. I turned away from the group and instantly started calling Roxie's name. That's weird, she always comes when I yell for her. I started to run down the street, looking for my ever so loyal companion. I saw Gavin put Lester back on his back, and then pick Gloria up bridal style. God he's so strong...... God dammit focus Rach. I turned and kept calling Roxie's name. Where the hell is she? I suddenly heard a bark, coming from under a big piece of rubble.

"Guys! I think I found Roxie!"

The rest of our gang ran over to where I was and helped me move the big piece of rubble away. I couldn't believe what I saw. Under the rubble was a boy and girl unconcious and a very bloody Roxie. Tara instantly took charge and grabbed the girl by her arms, tugging her away from the rocks. Zeke took the boy and did the same thing. I bent down and inspected Roxie. She had deep gashes going down her stomach and leg, staining her fur a deep ruby red color. I quickly turned to Tara.

"We need to get them immediate help! Did any of our nurses survive?"

Tara bit her lip and ran her fingers through her hair.

" only about five of them. They are at the spot where the first aid tent was looking for supplies. We should get these kids and Roxie over there."

Zeke nodded his head and threw the unconcious boy over his shoulder while Tara carried the girl on her back. Gavin picked up Lester and I walked over to Roxie and carefully lifted her up bridal style. We walked quickly back to the spot where the first aid tent used to stand. No one said a word on the way there. We arrived to find five nurses digging through rubble picking up supplies and helping injured campers. Tara put her fingers in her mouth and whistled.

"Yo Lydia, can we get some help over here?"

The young girl turned her head and briskly walked over to us.

"Oh my god! Tara, Zeke, put the unconcious kids on the ground over there. Gavin, help Gloria go to Pedro over there so he can fix that rib. Rachel, come with me."

We all parted ways and Lydia led me to a banged up operating table that suprisingly wasn't destroyed. I carefully laid Roxie on the table and stepped back. Roxie lifted her head up to look at me. She looked so hurt, so broken, so miserable. I brought my fist up to my heart, trying to stop my heart from beating out of my chest. The operating table was getting covered with more blood by the minute. Lydia was working vigorously to try and save Roxie. I don't know how she does it. She's 17 and so talented in nursing. I think she once told me that both of her parents were doctors. Lydia paused for a second to wipe her forehead and then went back to work. Roxie was breathing heavily, I'm not sure that's a good sign.

"Rachel!"

I turned my head to see Tara walking up to me.

"Hey, how's Roxie doing?"

I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed.

"To be honest, I don't even know. She's breathing heavy, and losing blood. Lydia is working on her so I can't get a good look at her injuries."

Tara bit her lip and nodded. I couldn't help but get more nervous by the minute. Roxie was the first living thing I found after the quake, and she's been by my side ever since. She was the one who found Gloria, who is like a sister to me.

Suddenly I hear Lydia sigh and slam the metal tool she was using against the table. She turned around and faced Tara and I, with a sympathetic look on her face.

"I'm sorry Rachel," She said quietly.

"Roxie is dead."
