Aria woke up that morning thinking it was going to be a normal day. When is it ever a normal day though? She got up from her bed, grabbed her phone and walked into the kitchen. Usually her dad and his girlfriend, Rose, were home by now, but she didn't mind them being gone. She made a bowl of cereal and sat down at the table and checked her phone while she ate.

No notifications. Emily must be asleep still. They stayed up late last night. After Aria was done looking at her phone, she finished her cereal and washed her bowl. Then she went to the living room, sat down on the couch and turned on the TV. She heard her dad unlocking the door and saw him and Rose walk in. "Aria why aren't you dressed yet? It's one o'clock." Her father scolded her.
Aria looked at her polka-dotted pajamas and said, "I just woke up. What do I need to be dressed up for anyway?" She was starting to get irritated. Her dad always found something to be mad at her about.
"Rose is throwing a dinner at five and I know how long it takes you to get ready."
Aria rolled her eyes and got up, "Can I invite Emily over?"
"No, we'd like you to actually be a part of this dinner."

Aria looked down, trying to not let her anger show. It was true that Aria hardly paid attention to Rose and her dad whenever Emily was near, but why does she have to attend dinner? She shifted her gaze over to something shiny and saw something she could not believe. Before she could stop herself she blurted out, "is that an engagement ring?"
She looked up at her dad who sighed, "We were going to tell you at the dinner party but you appear to have seen it already."
"So can I skip the dinner party then?"
"No. Rose's family is coming over. At least try to talk to them?"

Aria nodded and mumbled "right," before she went back to her room. She got out her phone and called Emily, "I have a question for you."
Emily replied in a sleepy tone, "Please nothing extreme, I just woke up."

Aria laughed and said, "Sorry, but have you ever wanted to leave this place?"
There was a silence that seemed to last for forever, "Of course." Emily mumbled.
"Hmm, great. I propose we go on a long trip."
"To where?"
"Everywhere. All over the country," Aria whispered.
"You're insane. Aria you're not even eighteen yet!"
"Exactly. We have at least a week to plan this trip."
Aria could hear Emily smile, "So, you're telling me, that we're going to plan a trip for around the country in a week?"
"Yep."
"Absolutely insane," Emily laughed.
