We were roses

We were roses wilting,

our souls decaying.

It wasn't because we lacked rain

as happiness and company,

more because our time was up,

and it was as simpe as that.

I was apart of an equation

no one could figure out,

and that's where I found joy,

in being something more than just flesh

and bone left to wander this planet

until my time came.

And you? You were every inch

of sunshine on a rainy day,

every unspoken word

and misplaced love.

You just weren't mine,

not anymore.
