A man eats an apple.

The man lay in bed, wondering what he should do for the day. He looked up at his ceiling fan and zoned out, watching its rhythmic spinning and swaying. During this time, though only ten minutes passed, it felt, to him, to be an hour. When he finally snapped out of his trance, he once again began to ponder his plans for the day. However, in the middle of a thought, he became aware of a raging hunger in his stomach. He said to himself,

"I think I'll eat something first. Maybe it'll help my planning."

He rose from his bed, nearly tripping on the blanket, which he had earlier thrown to the floor in frustration. After composing himself, he walked to the kitchen. Although the man wasn't wealthy, he had a well-furnished kitchen, with some of the latest machines for cooking. He once again entered a frustrated state of indecisiveness. Once in the kitchen, he could not decide what to eat.

"How can I plan my day, if I can't even decide what to eat?!"
He said out loud to himself. He opened his rather large fridge, and looked about frantically, searching for something to eat while he thought. His eyes darted from fruits, to vegetables, and even looked at leftovers from last night. He huffed in frustration, not wanting any of the things he saw. Just before he slammed the door of his fridge, he glanced at something. He stopped and looked at the item again. For a moment, the proportions and color threw him off. At first, he thought it was a tomato. But upon closer inspection, he discovered it was an apple. He marveled at the apple, wondering how it could be so perfect. The apple was a bright, shiny, and inviting shade of red, while its shape tended towards that of a sphere, but with a slight pinch towards the bottom. He looked it over again and again, thinking of where the fruit could have come from. He thought it best not to think on it too much, he was already doing enough of that. He washed the apple off and brought it up to take the first bite. He smiled and bit into the perfectly round side of the apple. He chewed for a moment and a disgusted look crossed his face. He spat the apple out onto the well-polished floor and wiped the saliva from his mouth. He looked again at the apple, now seeing the inside of it. He frowned and dropped the apple in the trash, for it was made of foam and plastic. He sighed and picked up another, not-so-perfect, apple. He bit into it and smiled, glad that it wasn't foam, but that it was a juicy, delicious, and normal apple.
