We have seen your portfolio online and we would like you to come in for an interview about coming to work for our local sports teams. We like your photography style and think you would be a perfect fit for us.

'This is honestly a dream come true,' I thought as I finished reading the email.

I quickly hit reply and started typing.

I'm defiantly interested in coming in for an interview.

I hit send and went to my website to make sure I had my updated portfolio on it before going to make sure all my camera things are charged and packed. I also made sure my print portfolio was updated.

Hello Miss Gilmore,

Thank you for your quick response. We would like you to come in for an interview on July 7 for noon. Please bring your portfolio and camera equipment. We will pay for your expenses to get here since you live out of town.

I look forward to meeting you.

'I have to start packing. It's two days away,' I thought as I replied saying I would be there.

I pulled out my phone to call my mom and dad to tell them the news.

"Hello," she answered.

"Hi mom. I have some news,"

"What's that?"

"I'm going to Newmarket for an interview with someone from the Newmarket Mavericks. I just got an email from them,"

"That's great. When do you leave?"

"I have to be there on the seventh for noon, so I'll probably leave tomorrow night before just so I have time when I get there,"

"That sounds like a good plan. I'll tell your dad the good news he's not home right now,"

"Okay. I should start packing and make sure I have everything that I'll need,"

"Let me know if you need me to drop anything off for you if you can't get somewhere before you have to leave,"

"I will. I'll come by tomorrow for lunch if I can,"

"Okay," she said before hanging up.

I got up from my desk and walked over to my closet to grab a suitcase for all my clothes that I might need. I knew I would need casual clothes for around the hotel and Newmarket, professional/ business casual for the interview and anything they might have me in for, and pyjamas.

'Hey! I'm not going to be able to hang out this weekend. I'm going to Newmarket for an interview on the 7th. If you're able to come over tonight. I'm going to be packing and getting everything ready,' I sent to my best friend Lena who I've known since I was probably five years old.

'That's amazing! I'll be over at 7. I'm so happy for you,' she replied right away.

I started packing my camera equipment in the bag I use for travel and packed my lighting equipment in it's own bag, and my tripod would just stay in my car if I need it.

"Are you excited for your interview?" Lena asked as she walked into my apartment.

"Yes and a little nervous. I think I have everything packed. I have a nail appointment in the morning and then I'm going to my parents for lunch before heading out. I still want to look up information about the teams in Newmarket since it was mentioned about local teams,"

"Well let's start looking up information. You should start with the Mavericks since that's who emailed you,"

I grabbed my laptop and googled Newmarket Mavericks.

"He played here in juniors. I remember going to games with you because you had a crush on him and because you were so excited to photograph some of their games," Lena said pointing to a player profile.

"I totally remember that. He's still just as a good looking," I said clicking on his player profile.

We continued looking through the website and at anything I might need to know before moving onto looking at another team from Newmarket.
