Everyone was running about, each and every person trying to find out what they could do and how they could help—my mom, my dad, my oldest brother, my oldest sister, and my youngest brother. However, I sat on the couch, bundled in soft, warm blankets. I had my headphones on—large, obnoxiously-pink disks strapped to my head that I had gotten for my fourteenth birthday; I wasn't going to lie, they were good headphones...they were just a bit pink for me. I wore them anyway, though. Since I had just gotten over the flu, my parents allowed me to excuse myself from the annoying dinner preparation and sit like a dead moose on among the pillows.

I was almost certain there was loud Christmas music playing from the dining room, and my audio had somehow managed to drown out the clanking of china plates, silverware, and delicate glasses. The YouTube video I was currently watching was most certainly something my mother and father would highly disapprove of—well, the commentary, at least—for it was an obscene amount of hilarious, Irish cursing that engulfed me and pulled me into the world of Happy Wheels.

I snorted while trying to contain my laughter at one of the stupid jokes that had been made. My oldest brother, Leonard, who had come back from college for the holidays, gave me a weird look as he walked past with a dish of mashed yams. "You should be working, you know," he told me, slowing his pace. The comment was barely audible through the victory screams.

I paused the video, looking up. "Huh?" I asked. "Oh, yeah. But I'm sick, remember?" Then I smirked, for Leonard was both incredibly helpful—he couldn't help it—yet reluctant to help at the same time. I knew the image of his youngest sister, bundled up on the couch, being lazy—unlike him—was annoying.

He scowled and trudged off to the kitchen. "Was!" he shouted back to me.

I giggled and pressed play again, laughing nearly directly afterwards. The video ended hilariously, leaving me smiling in glee. "Jacksepticeye," I said softly to myself. "Where would I be without you!"

"Peter!" I heard my mom call to my youngest brother. "Can you find another chair? Tatiana, set another place at the table, please; the Barrons are bringing a friend!"

My video froze. I sighed, trying to reload the page. While it attempted to load, I went over the list of people coming to Christmas dinner: Me, Leonard, Peter, Tatiana, Mom, Dad, Aunt Lilly, Uncle Tyler, Grace, Brandon...that's the family... The page reloaded. "Video error," I muttered, clicking on a new video. I continued my list: Let's see, then there's the Barrons, which is Katherine, Steve, and then...is their daughter coming? Yeah...so Clara, and...their friend, I guess... The video finally loaded.

It was a Markiplier video—his newest episode of Fran Bow. I was thoroughly enjoying that series, and whisper-squealed because of its arrival. I was in love with Mark's deep voice for Mr. Midnight, and happily listened along.

Half way through the video, I heard the doorbell ring. Dam—I mean dang it... I tried not to cuss, though all of my favorite YouTubers did, as well as a few of my friends. Still—even if it was just in my head.

"Coming!" Dad called, running towards the door while setting a pan down on a nearby table. His flannel was slightly unbuttoned, revealing the red shirt underneath—Mom had told him he needed to wear at least one Christmas color. His jeans were clean, all except for a sauce spot on the thigh. Hopefully he would change before Mom saw him.

Dad opened the door. "Hey!" he exclaimed enthusiastically. "So good to see you, Lilly!"

He continued to greet my uncle and cousins, so I obediently turned the volume down in order to hear my cue for socializing. It wasn't more than ten seconds before I heard my dad speak. "Come over, Rachelle," he said. "Say hi to everyone."
