Window Watching...
Mum came home one day,
Said you were gone.
I thought you’d be back,
I hoped you’d return,
Days and nights I looked for you,
Praying you were there,
We used to play hide and seek,
Past the watery creek.
I followed you there one time,
When you told me you were done,
I didn’t believe you,
I told you to hold on.
Now I know what you really meant,
I wish I had have known,
Maybe I could have helped,
And healed the unknown.
Now here I lay,
Alone in my bed,
Wishing for my sister,
The one who will never return.
Maybe one day I’ll see you,
Past the moon and stars,
I want to see you smile and laugh,
“Just one more time,” I ask.
