You know those days when nothing seems to make sense? Well, today was one. My parents wanted me to be early home from school, for reasons I'm not sure of. Maybe they didn't want me to cause trouble, I was anyway their only child and they wanted me to be near perfect. I could never be like the angels – as I thought of this, I threw a quick glance at the small group of flawless boys who were just passing by.
"Astelle, you're not after them, are you", my best friend Tara mumbled slightly nervously. I chuckled carefreely and shook my head, "obviously not, I was just thinking". Tara stared at me uncertainly until she got something out of her bag and handed it to me. It was an old wrinkly envelope. I felt a jolt of excitement inside my chest as I snatched it away from her.
"They finally came, didn't they?" I cried in happiness. Tara smiled at me shortly before turning around and muttering a quiet goodbye. I was quite used to her odd behavior so I paid no attention to her and decided to open the envelope at home. I had been waiting for it a long time – our teacher Mr.Ezeakil had promised to get his students a penpal and I finally got a letter from mine. I was excited for a reason, my parents only let me hang out with Tara and a few other human girls who I didn't really mind. It'd be amazing to get a new friend.
Just as I was about to leave the school territory and enter the big green forest that was in between of my house and school, I heard someone call my name. I swiftly turned around to see Elyon – an angel. I already felt my hands get sweaty, I knew I had to keep away from him. It's not that he was bad or that humans shouldn't interact with angels, it was just that I feared my strict parents. He was quite good looking, as angels per usual, with a pair of ocean blue eyes and messy blonde hair.
"Elyon, nice to see you", I nodded politely and stared at his lips that had formed into a warm smile. "Astelle, you had got your letter as well, right", he questioned as he pointed towards the envelope I was crushing in my hands. As I realized I was holding it too tightly, I mentally cursed at myself and then smiled at Elyon. "Surely", I nodded again as I started walking towards the forest.
He confidently stepped next to me and continued talking with a mischevious glint in his bright blue eyes. "Well, don't forget me after meeting your new friend", he winked at me playfully as he softly placed his hand on my shoulder, stopping me. I turned to face him with a questioning look, and he continued, "It was a pleasure to talk to you, Astelle. I will see you soon".
With that, I was left standing dumbfounded on the small path. Why was the angel so eager to talk to me? It wasn't the first time and every time I felt like dying. Anyway, at that moment I remembered the letter and I decided to hurry home. My parents would be incredibly mad.
(I am sorry if the chapter is a bit short. I would love any feedback or comments... :D)
