My legs gave out as my body crashed onto the ground. My older cousins who were running at the rear, rushed towards me. Harry, being the muscular one, picked me up with ease and set me on my feet again.

"You okay, Fia?" asked Greg, my other cousin.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

They looked at me, disbelieving.

"Hey Pops! Let's rest already!" Harry shouted to my Uncle George, who's leading us. We've been traveling for 15 hours and hiking for already 6 and a half hours.

"We can't slow down! We're in a forest and we are out of the trail! We need to find a safe place to rest. If Fia cannot go on any longer, then carry her. She's skinny, anyways," Madison, my older sister, scolded us.

"C'mon Fia. I'll carry you," Greg said, smiling. I climbed onto his back and walked on, catching up on the others.

I kept thinking about what happened for the past weeks. My grandma's house still sparkly and full of music, and all of us in nice dresses and suits. We were having fun, all of us. Then, suddenly, bullets came raining and it was like the war all over again. I really thought Preston was a secure and safe city. I guess I was wrong.

"Where are we?" Matthew, my youngest cousin asked Aunt Marie.

"I saw a sign before we entered the forest. We're in Grimshore, south of Cerevis. Now keep quiet. We don't know what kind of wild animals live in this place," Uncle Hugh said. Aunt Marie patted Matthew on thde back.

We continued the journey silently. Then I saw something in the middle of the trees.

"Is that a barn?" I asked loudly. They turned their heads towards it.

"Hey Dad! I found a barn!" Madison started yelling then smirked at me smugly. I badly wanted to roll my eyes at her. Greg patted my arm that is around me and smiled. He carefully set me down on my feet and we walked towards the house.

"Your sister drives me mad...and not in a good way," Harry whispered to me. I snickered.

Uncle George, Uncle Hugh and my father pointed their rifles at the entrance while Dad kicked the barn's door. When we saw that all is clear, the rest of us went in there. The barn was humongous. There can be enough room for a couple of hundred of people. The problem is that there is no electricity. There are plenty of water, though.

"Marie, Regina, and Lisa, take care of the kids. Harry and Greg go outside and find firewood. We'll hunt for food. Start the fire while we're gone," Dad said.

Us girls have washed up and changed clothes when the night fell. A couple of minutes later, Harry and Greg got the fire going. The men came back with a couple of pigeons in their hands. Our mothers prepared the pigeons in soup and some are fried. We made our beds, which is just a cloth over the ground and our clothes bundle as our pillow.

Tomorrow morning, me, Matthew, and our other cousin, Angela, were looking for some fruits. Me and Angela got on a full-blown story session. We hadn't realized that Matthew was gone.

"Maybe he needed to pee. Let's just wait for him here," Angela suggested. We stayed there for minutes. Then Matthew came out of the trees.
