I stare up at the bright summer stars and wish, wishing harder than I ever had before, that the universe would mean for us to be together; that this relationship I can see forming isn't just some broken fantasy I've made up in my head that will fall apart at the end of the summer. I wish that maybe, just maybe, it will flourish as brightly as the stars above my head and last until our last breath.

"Amanda, you're doing that deep thinking thing again, get in bed. It's midnight," my dad says from my door.

"But dad, it's not like I have to get up in the morning," I replied, flopping over onto my bed.

"Well, as a 15 year old, you're supposed to get 9 hours of sleep each night. But whatever, we'll be at work when you wake up." I give him a thumbs up and go to sleep.

------------------------

I  wake up to hear the familiar buzz of someone texting me. I look, 1 text from my best friend Luke!
L: Good morning beautiful :) <3

I smile, me and Luke have been best friends since the beginning of 6th grade. Luke's alway been there for me when I needed him most. I respond to his text:
A: Good morning... wanna hang out today?

L: Sure where?

A: My house

L: Alright sounds good

I yawn and decide I need to get ready, so I tumble out of bed and grab a Johnnie Guilbert shirt out of my closet. When I look into my mirror, I see my curly dirty blonde hair is a mess and hazel eyes look tired, so I sit in front of my mirror and straighten my hair, I hate it's awful, messy curls. I grab some shorts out of my dresser to change into. As I get ready I play my love playlist on Spotify; Luke doesn't know but I have had a crush on him since the end of 6th grade. I grab my phone and text Luke:
A: When are you coming over?

L: Now?

A: Sure Sounds good :)

I run downstairs and sit on my couch. I hear the doorbell ring, I open the door and Luke gives me a big hug, I smile,

"Hey Luke," I said.

"Hey Amanda," he replied.

I giggle and run upstairs and I flop back onto my bed.

"Wait up Manda!" Luke yells from the bottom of the stairs. He finally gets to my room and sits on my bed.

"Hey Luke," I say, rolling over so I'm face up.

"Yes, Amanda?" he said absentmindedly, looking around my room.

"I need to tell you something," I say, sitting up.

"Of course anything." I grin mischievously and grab a pillow,

"Pillow fight!" I yell as I smack him in the face with my pillow.

"Oh no you don't!" He yells and dives for another pillow, smacking me as he grabs it. We engage in intense pillow war, smacking and throwing pillow left and right; until a pillow rips open, spraying feathers everywhere. I fall down onto of him in defeat.

"Ok, you win," I say and stare up at him, and then suddenly his ocean blue eyes were staring down into mine.

"Hey Luke?" I ask, sitting up.

"Yeah?" He replies, still staring into my eyes.

"Can I tell you something serious?" I ask, leaning closer.

"Anything," he says, also leaning closer, so close our faces were almost touching.

"I like you, like, really like you. And-and I think I have for a long time," I say, looking down and blushing. Like lifts my chin up and I see he's smiling.

"Amanda, I think I like you too," he says and leans all the way forward, pressing his lips against mine.

Now, I would like to say sparks flew, but that's not exactly how first kisses go. It was defiantly amazing and exciting, but it was new and different too. I had never experienced anything like it before, and it sort of took me by surprise. But like they always say, first is the worst, second is the best.

It was a new beginning, and I sure hoped it would last.
