Prologue

For the past 4 years, I've been working as hard as I possibly can to get into my dream college.
Phoenix University.
All the successful business people nowadays have all gone to Phoenix University. I want to aspire to be just like them.
Oh! You don't know who I am yet, do you? Sorry! Let me introduce myself! My name is Aphmau Marie Phoenix. And, I know what you're thinking! My last name is the same as the school's name! Well, that's because, my ancestors founded the school! But, that didn't give me a free pass to get in. I had to work my butt off for that spot! I hope people don't judge me for it.
Anyway, for the past 4 years, I've gone to high school. The whole time, my mom kept pushing me to work my hardest! Every one in my family has gone to that school, and my mom didn't want me to break the tradition! I stayed up all night, doing extra work. Anything that could get me a scholarship to that school. My parents, aren't exactly rich, like some of the kids that are going there. So we can't afford for me to go there all 4 years. Thankfully, I got my scholarship. I packed up my bags, and off I go. To my new school. I wouldn't see my family much anymore. Phoenix University was kind of far away. 4 hours, to be exact. My dad carried all my bags outside to the car. I looked at my mom. I smiled at her. Tears started to form in my eyes.
Man, I'm going to miss them! I thought.
My mom walked up to me with her arms extended for a hug. Her bottom lip was quivering. I smiled at her.
" Don't cry, Mom! I'm only going to be a few hours away! You can visit me any time!" I said, trying to reassure her.
I hugged her tightly. We pulled away and she looked at me for a second.
" Hurry up and say goodbye before I start to cry!" She said to me.
I nodded and smiled at her. I turned to my dogs. I petted them all on the head and kissed their soft fur.
" You guys be good! The university doesn't allow pets, so you'll have to stay with Mom and Dad until I get a place of my own, instead of staying in one of their dorms! Hehe! I love you!" I said all of them. Thorgi barked happily at me and I laughed before petting him on the head again. I stood up straight and looked at my mom. I hugged her once more and waved goodbye to my dogs before running out the door. I said my goodbyes to my dad, hugged him a few times, and hopped in my car.
My dad had already put all my stuff in the back. I drove a jeep. I had saved up a lot of my money to buy it. It was one of those cars were you could take the doors off. Currently, they were on so my luggage didn't go flying out of the car and into the road.

I looked out over the grand entrance of my school. The place I would be living until I could afford a place of my own. I smiled and thought to myself:
This is it. I'm finally here. At my dream school. Phoenix University.
