Yes, the girl was only seventeen when she discovered that she had magic. She would simply stare and force people to drop dead. Or was she fourteen?

"Pax, of course you can do magic. That's why you're here." The man who sat across from the young girl was dressed in a suit. From where Pax was seated, the suit seemed to leave the man uncomfortable, he continuously shifted in his seat. "I'm sorry, but who the hell are you?"
"Head Professor." The man wished to say more but Pax smartly cut his words short, "Head Professor of what?"

The man furrowed his brows. The natural lightened room pressed shadows against his olive face. "Edina. Have you ever heard of it?" The man said. Pax shook her head, wispy bleached hair following her small movement. "No." She answered.

"It's a school, where we study magic." His answer caused Pax to snort, a few moments had passed of her composing herself, "You what?" A chuckle bounced on her words, "Study magic? Isn't that stuff fantasy?" The professor guy only sat silent, he watched the young girl who sat across the desk. "Pax, would you like to see some magic? No, could you show me magic?" He continued, "You're here because you have magical abilities. So I'd love to see what you can do." This time; he chuckled. Pax tilted her head slightly. She had simply guessed that the man was undoubtedly high on something and that he was seeing things. "Magic Abilities?" Pax sneered. Unfortunately her russet eyes had met his, the serious expression he wore told her that he wasn't joking. "Magic eh?" She pulled both of her hands up, the sleeves of her ruby hoodie rolled down her arms. Pax had decided to go with the ol' thumb disappearing act.

The man had eyed her quietly, a small pity-like  smile playing at his lips. "Not that kind of magic, Pax." His voice carried a scent of disappointment as he laced his fingers together and placed them on the desk between them. "Then what kind of magic? Do you want me to fly or something?" Pax gave a harsh tone, her dark brows furrowed. Magic was frankly for little kids; and it certainly didn't exist. "Let me tell you this, Pax: Magic is definitely real. If you want me to show you magic. Nows your chance." This man is crazy. Pax pondered. Either, something good would come out of this magic thing — or something very bad. She shrugged, trying out her luck,"Why not? Go ahead, show me." The professor was calm as his hands parted from each other, their eyes met. "What?" Pax narrowed her eyes, "Do your magic." He set a pen on the desk, it casted a simple shadow behind it. The professor twirled his index finger.
The pen had stood up on its own, and didn't stop there — it's dark shadow rose along the desk as it floated. The pen had started spinning, its movement pushing memories of a spinner on a windy day into her head. It cut through the air giving off a wispy sound. Pax watched in awe, as the pen lowered slowly and land onto the desk — still again. "You think I can do that? Whatever that was." Her eyes glowed. Pax was undoubtedly amazed. A regular, everyday pen started to float right in front of her eyes and spin around. Simple as that — the moment didn't even last 30 seconds and she was still awestruck. "You will be able to do that if you just simply take classes here." Pax was too excited to remember where here even was. "Here?"
"Edina, Pax."

"When do I start?" Pax hid a few of blonde strands behind her ear. The professor had shrugged, while lacing his fingers together again, "Today, maybe?"
