It was the middle of summer in Fairbanks Alaska, where I would soon be moving to. Before I get on with the story, let me tell you some things about my family and I. My name is Charlotte Pines, and I'm fifteen years old. My dad was in the military but died last year. My mom works at a hospital and usually doesn't get home until 1:00 in the morning. Anyways, I was touring the house I was going to move into it with my mom. Since it was in Fairbanks Alaska, one of the cloudiest cities in the U.S.. I didn't like the house, probably because of the fact that there had been so many murders in it. I was exploring the house on my own while my mom talked to the realtor. I noticed that the house was very messy, as if the owner had just left it all of a sudden without taking anything with them. That was disturbing. I felt this odd sensation that someone was with me upstairs even though my mom and the realtor were both downstairs. "It's probably just my imagination." I reassured myself. Other than the mess, the house was beautiful, but there was still just something I didn't like about it. I went back downstairs and stood next to my mom. "We're going to buy this house. Isn't it great? It's so affordable too!" my mom exclaimed. I told her I loved it too because she seemed so excited about it. We agreed that we would buy the house, even though I wasn't so happy about it. I wasn't so happy about moving in the first place. I would have to go to a whole new school in a whole new town, and make new friends, not that I already had any. I just didn't want to start new. We had moved to cold, gloomy, Fairbanks Alaska. There was nothing I could do about it, so I just chose not to complain, afterall, my mom seemed so happy and excited about it for some reason. Not a lot was going to be new for her, since she was getting the same job she had before, at a hospital until 1:00 in the morning. When we left the house after touring it, I looked back for a second while we were walking to the car, and I thought I saw someone peering out the window. That night I had this weird dream. I was in the house I was going to move into and I was walking around. It was night time and I was thirsty. I was going downstairs to get a drink and I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around I saw someone. It was a boy, he looked like he was about my age or maybe a year older than me. Just by instinct I tried punching him but my hand went right through him. I was shocked. I just stood there in awe for a second. Then I noticed that if I looked hard enough he was kind of transparent. It was a ghost. He was about to say something but then I woke up. I realized that I was only dreaming. I looked at the clock. It was 11:00 am. My mom had probably left for work already. I went downstairs and found my cat, Dawn laying on the couch. I started to eat my breakfast, and I thought about the dream I had last night. "That couldn't really happen," I said, then laughed. "Ghosts living in my house." I thought about it some more. I wished I hadn't woken up when I did. I wanted to hear what the boy was going to say. I might've even been kind of cool to have a ghost living in my house, as long as it was nice, but I knew that would never happen. Things like that don't happen. At least not that I'd heard of. I looked up the address of the house I was moving into. 1121 Baker street, Fairbanks Alaska. I found out that 23 people had lived in the house and 22 people were killed in the house. One person survived.
