Today I met a boy.
We met in the woods that separated my neighborhood from the noisy traffic and the crowded shopping malls. It was a clear day, the first in several days of snow. Most of said snow had melted, uncovering the undergrowth throughout the trees. I was eight years old and wished to fulfill my dreams as a "leaf scientist," so I took my magnifying glass out to the woods and dug around. I saw many leaves, ones that I named "Joe" and "Sally" and, on a whim, "Lemmy the Leaf." As I was hunting around the base of a pine tree, a group of leaves fluttered down onto my head. I looked up and found myself staring into a pair of brown eyes that had flecks of green in them.
"Hello, Tree Boy." I said, blinking slowly so as not to startle him.
"Hello, Leaf Girl," he replied, "What brings you to my humble pine tree?"
I held up the leaf I had in my hand and placed it in his outstretched hand. Then, turning on my heel, I pranced back to my house and went inside.

RomansaOnce, when I was very young, I met a boy. He was the kind of beautiful that makes the sun envious. He and I met many times, once on the same day, every year.
