"Hey Erin, I found a hold house our mayor used to live in. It's near your side of the city and I think it'll be great for an adventure, man. Call me back and i'll get us ready, peace." Rex hanged up and eyed the photo of the old house. Him and Erin have been friends since the second grade, after Erin pushed all the tables together and threw paper planes at the teacher saying he was the king of room 162. A few years later Erin took Rex into a small park and went exploring. Rex didn't know at that time that this was going to be the start of their explorations.

Ring. Ring. His phone rings and buzzes against his desk with Erin's face appearing on the screen. Rex smiled and picked it up, "Hey winters. You saw the pic I sent you?" "Yeah! It looks rad!" Erin said happily, "So the man used to live in that place? I bet we can find something in there." Rex stood up and walked over to his tattered and dirty backpack he used for exploring. Resting his phone between his head, he started to pack for the new adventure. "There's a doorway to the basement, maybe they left some things in their" Rex said. "Like a grand piano?" Erin asked. "Why a- I'm not gonna ask, but like storage boxes they left with like i don't know china or something." Rex replied as he put on his combat boots. Erin was a odd ball, asking and doing odd things like dyeing his hair bright pink for the beginning of highschool or asking 'are mars bars really made of mars?'

They agreed to meet at their usual spot and hung up. Rex pulled on his bookbag as he exited his room. His sisters were out on the living room floor playing with their dolls, talking loudly and giggling. His father was on the old recliner watching tv as his mother was in the kitchen chatting up a storm with her friends. "Loud and chatty." Rex thought. "Why can't they pick up a book or go outside? It's amazing today! All they want is to be trolls and stay indoors." Rex sighed as he walked to the door, turning around to see his family again, "I'm leaving!" He aloud. Attempting to get their attention, but was ignored. Rex, in his disappointment, exited his house and walked to their meet up spot.

Erin quickly threw what he needed into his backpack as he searched for his in his cluttered room. "Where are you..." He mudders, throwing his pillows back onto the bed. He shoved his books under the bed and found it next to his jar of coins he gathered. Erin let a sigh of relief and picked up his ring. "Stop moving around, it's hard to find you in my room." He said as he put the ring on. The ring was old and dirty, it's silver band was  scratched and dented. The square blue gew lost it's shine. Erin rubbed the ring on his shirt, making it shine a bit again. He smiles as he grabbed his backpack and crawled out of his window to the fire escape. He knew his father wouldn't let him out of the house because of his last adventure across the river.

Erin flew down the staircase and when he got to the ground he bolted to the meetup spot. Erin lived on the quote "bad part of town" unquote. He didn't get why it was, Delis were a block or two away, The parts were big, and people knew each other. The best part for him was the old apartments complexes that no one lived in. That's where he started his solo adventures. Erin found many things, but now with Rex, he could go to better place and find new things.

"Erin!" Rex yelled, waving at he. Erin slowed down, panting heavily. "Hey" He wheezed as he caught up to Rex. He rests his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. Rex lead Erin to a beach and sat next to him, "You could've taken your time coming here, Erin, You didn't need to run all the way here." Erin chuckles softly. He grabbed a water bottle out from his backpack and chugged half of it. "Also the house is back the way you came." Erin groaned as he stood up,"You could've met me there ya dingus." He flicked Rex's forehead. They chuckle and made their way to them abandon house.
