Licia let out the breath she'd been holding and her heart sank a little. All she could do was hope he hadn't heard what her mom was talking about. Licia nudged her mother's hand. Jackie already wore an embarrassed expression on her face.

"Don't get quiet now, he's already heard y'all." She scolded the two older women. Not really knowing if he'd heard or not.

"Sssh" Wanda held her finger up to her lips as she went to make sure he'd left.

"Jackie!" She said aloud, reprimanding her little sister.

"I know. I know." She waved her off. "I'm sorry." She said, her voice, much quieter than before.

Wanda shook her head.

"Maybe he didn't hear." Licia offered.

"If he did we wouldn't know, he wouldn't say anything even if he did hear her...he's a quiet kid, probably to shame to say anything..." Wanda explained coming over to join them at the table.

"Ok,ok, I already feel bad enough." Jackie sighed shaking her head in regret. "See if he wasn't here that would have never happened." She said looking up at Wanda.

Wanda just stared at her for a moment seemingly in disbelief before busting out laughing.

Must be the alcohol.

"Where you going?" her mother asked as Licia left her seat at the table.

"To see Andre." She answered casually already halfway out of the kitchen.

Mentally Licia replayed what had just transpired. She hoped he hadn't heard her mom and Wanda if he had, that had to not be fun. She hated when people poped up out of nowhere like that. It'd happen to her several times at school, she and some girls would be talking about someone and then, boom, the person of interest would appear. That feeling was the worst. Licia made it to Tracy's room.

Tracy was the calm one out of her two cousins. He'd just graduated from high school and was already a sophomore in college. His younger brother, Andre had a temper but really didn't care about much outside of girls and music, Tracy mainly stayed in books but if the time came he could have a real mean streak and become very crazy. To be fair it did take a lot to take him to that place. He was a big guy, the muscular type but not body builder big just more buff than most guys. Probably one of the reasons why nobody intentionally fucked with him.

Licia knocked on the door, she heard his voice from inside.

"Yeah and that's what I meant by...." he cleared his throat. "What?" He asked looking at younger cousin.

"It's me."

"Hold up." He told whoever he was speaking with.

"Come in!"

"Hey, you know where Dre is?" Licia asked, Tracy was still holding the phone to his ear.

Tracy jerked his shoulder in a little annoyance then went back to his phone conversation. "Yeah baby, like I was saying. I'm gon' put this you know what on ya-"

"Tracy...?" Licia asked again.

He huffed aloud laying the receiver on his muscular shoulder. "I don't know. If he's here, you already know he's probably down there with his girlfriends playing band...or some shit." he grinned a little at his own words, then got back to his conversation.
