The grass tickled my legs as my red mane flew across my face, like fire dancing in the soft wind. The smell of the sweet blossoms acted as a remedy to my anxiety as I sat down on a nearby bench. A kaleidoscope of flowers lays before me, but the one that draws my eye was the rose. Unlike all the other flowers that stodd tall and proud, the scarlet rose limped, like a broken soldier. A cool breeze picked up, the leaves on the trees surrounding me swayed to the beat of the wind. My breathing calmed as I closed my eyes letting the sounds surrounding me being the only thing I hear. The birds whistled to each other a hurried and erratic melody, as if trying to warn each other of some unknown danger. Their soft chirping I heard so often as a child no longer present. The wind blew, more powerful now, my ivory dress lifting up ever so slightly.
Hearing a crunch of unfortunate twigs, my eyes snap open, settling on the intruder, my shoulders slumping ever so slightly in realization that it was only Abraxas.
"You're late my dear," I began, a coy smile resting on my pale face.
"And I truly am sorry," replied he, his facial expressions reflecting mine, "but I did have my reasons of course".
"As one should presume,"
"I have some news, my dearest Myrtle,"
"And what may that be?" replied I.
"Mother and father have engaged me,"
"To whom, may I ask?" I inquired delicately.
"Penelope Parkinson, my love,"
"Oh. Of course. How could I have assumed that we would one day be engaged? I am after all a mere muggleborn, am I not? How silly of me,". As the words exited my mouth, my eyes welled up and my voice cracked.
"I am sorry Myrtle. You must know that I had no say in this treacherous matter. And you must know that I will always love you. But mother and father gave me no choice. I will not pain you nor I with requesting your presence at the wedding."
"In that case, I suppose this is our final encounter with one another. And if it is to be so then I shall bestow you with this," I announce, handing over an emerald ring, which I had bought for Abraxas on my way to meet him.
"How much fate teases us. The moment upon which we must part we endow each other with our love wrapped in jewels. This," he said holding out a silver necklace with a sparkling azure sapphire encrusted into it, "is for you. May you remember my love for you, forevermore. And may we meet once again in another life"
As the two lovers parted, tears streaming down their faces, they felt nothing but defeat well up inside. But yet, neither knew what their doting exchange would commence in years to come.
