A few minutes after the nurse scurried off, the doctor came in, holding some gauze, peroxide, and a fresh bandage. "Hullo, my wonderful patient!" He grinned broadly, hoping the Irken wouldn't try to bite him this time.
But Zim had other plans.

Dib walked into his hospital room, happier than he had been in a long time. His father was going to check him out of the hospital in the morning, so long as the doctors let him. The scar was healing grandly, but it itched like crazy and the nurses had said it'd be there forever. At the time, Dib felt horrible about that. But now... he liked the way everyone saw him and had that look of respect in their eyes. Even his father had said, "That's one tough scar you got there, little boy." Things were looking up. They really were.
Zim's curtain was closed around his bed, which was odd, because Zim would always retort to the doctors, "What if someone were to attack Zim? How would I see them coming?!" He also heard concerned voices whispering.
"Uh, excuse me?" Dib interrupted, squinting at the shadows on the curtain. "What's going on?" Part of him hoped Zim had died. Part of him hoped that the shadows were scientists with dissection kits, waiting to make the first incisions on Zim's skin.
"Nothing serious, Dib," came Dr. Wightman's reassuring voice. "Zim just needed a new bandage, but we found some bits of glass in his cut. We're removing it now."
Well, thought Dib, close enough to dissection. But why isn't Zim even arguing? Did they sedate him?
A few minutes later, the curtain was opened, and Dib saw what happened: Zim was unconscious, almost as pale as the pillowcase. A large bruise was on his forehead. Seems like Zim's going to be here for a while... Dib thought, amused. How did the Irken get the bruise? Did he slam his weak head into the pillow too hard? Dib tried not to grin at his mental joke.
"Try not to make too much noise, Dib," Dr. Wightman said, walking to the door. "The sedatives have worn off, and I think he's just asleep now. ... The first time I've seen him sleep in his entire stay here..." Dib nodded and the doctor left the room, followed by some other doctors.
Zim lets out a small chuckle from his bed, his eyes still closed. "Idiots. I just did that so they'd leave Zim alone."
"Zim, do realize how stupid you're being?" Dib retorted, turning on the television. "If you don't let the doctors do their job, you'll end up hurting yourself even worse. How can you take over Earth when you're hardly able to get out of bed?"
"ZIM CAN GET OUT OF BED!!" the alien snarled, and he leapt out of his bed just to prove it. However, he was still lousy from the sedatives and his knees buckled beneath him. Groaning, Zim pulled himself off the floor and gripped the rails on his bed to keep upright.
"Told you," Dib said in a sing-song voice, grinning smugly.
"It's the sedatives!!! If it weren't for those horrible doctors, I'd be able to stand just fine!"
"Uh-huh. Sure, Zim. Whatever you say. Did you get that bruise on your face because of Dr. Wightman, too?"
"YES!" Zim screamed, stomping his foot. "THAT STUPID HYOOMAN HIT ME ON THE HEAD WITH A LAMP!! A LAMP!!!" The Irken signaled wildly toward a broken lamp lying next to his bed on the floor. "AND, NO, IT WAS NOT BECAUSE ZIM TRIED TO SNAP THE DOCTOR'S NECK!!!"
"Jeez!" Dib yelped, knowing that if he didn't calm Zim down, the alien would resort to violence. And what was Zim's favorite thing to hit? Answer: Dib's already scarred face. "Just calm down, Zim! Jeez....
"CALM DOWN?! CALM DOWN?! WHY WOULD ZIM CALM DOWN WHEN THERE'S A DOCTOR WHO ABUSES HIS PATIENTS?!?! HE WILL PAY FOR WHAT HE DID!!!"
"Zim. Don't you think you're overreacting just a bit?" By this point, Dib feared for the safety of his face...
"OF COURSE NOT!"
But then the power went out, and it happened...
(Hyukhyukhyuk random power outage means baaad..... I dunno, I wanted to make it interesting, but this chapter sort of went downhill. "And IT happened"..... What a cliché ending... *buries face in hands because of my downright shame* Augh....)
(.... But why do I say that? "Augh".... Wow. *judges self and cringes at my weirdness and odd exclamations* Jeez, you know it's bad when you don't even understand YOURSELF...)
