I love the simple things in life,
like a dead leaf crumbling under my blue converse
the sound of that perfect crunch,
the sound of my dads truck leaving the highway after a long trip
your ears adjusting after the constant roar of the wind,
the sound of rain and thunder while I try to sleep
thunder may scare some
but to me it's the perfect lullaby.
I love singing to entertain myself
and by singing I don't mean actual songs
I like making up lyrics that narrate what I'm doing.
I love the simple things in life,
the things that people over look every day,
like a math equation that has a lot of written out math
but the numbers fit perfectly
just as perfectly as the way our fingers fit together when I hold your hand.
I love the beach at night,
the water one black mass,
coming and going,
the stars over head,
the smell of salt
and the feel of sand between your toes.
I love the simple things in life,
the things that people with all the money in the world over look
those people need the newest iphone,
the best laptop,
the sleekest car.
when all I need?
is a leaf to crush,
a childhood memory to dwell on,
my best friends laugh
and a piece of paper and a pen to write it all down.
Just to remind myself

I don't need big, fancy things
what I need?
is the small things that can make me smile
the easy things that come naturally
and the simple things, that make my life that much better.
