It was a cold, dark, and rainy night. I was at home getting ready to go to Arkham Asylum. Then I was ready, so I called a cab and waited outside. The cab was here, so I grabbed my house keys, purse, phone, and badge.
I was at Arkham Asylum, and ran into a security guard that said,"What's your name," I said,"Dr.Harleen Frances Quinzel, I'm here to see Dr.Joan Leland."then the security guard said,"Right down the hall third left,"I said,"Thank you."
I opened the door and saw Joan Leland and she said,"Hello, Dr.Harleen Quinzel," I said,"Call me Harley every one does," "is that so?" Said Joan. Why walked down the halls of Arkham and its criminal minds, "Dr.Quinzel, why do you want to work here at Arkham Asylum," "Yes well... I've always had an attraction for extreme personalities," I continued,"and more high profile?" You can't deny that there's an element of glamour to these super-criminals," I answered. "Let me just warn you right now: these are hard core psychotics,"reminded Joan,"I'm aware." I responded. We continued walking and I saw the Jokers cell and thought to myself, the Joker. He winked at me, and I blushed.
Later that day in my office, I found a vase of roses with a note it said,"Come down and see me sometime -J. I picked up one of the roses and smelled it, it smelled like heaven. The I rushed out of my office with the note to the Jokers cell, he was laying down on a bed smiling, telling jokes to himself. I said,"Care to tell me how this got in my office." He said,"I put it there," I respond,"I see, I think Dr.Leland and the guards would find it interesting that you've been out of your cell." He remarked,"If you were really going to them...you would have already." Then he said,"You know sweets I like you," I responded,"Really...anything in particular?" It was a long pause tell he said,"Mostly the name...Harley Quin-zel." He continued,"Rework the words a bit and you get Harley Quinn, like the classic clown character, Harle Quin...the very spirit of fun and frivolity! You can see how I'd be attracted to a name like that." I responded,"I guess if there's nothing else..." He interrupted,"A name...that puts a smile on my face. It makes me feel like there's someone I can trust, and tell all my secrets to.
It took nearly three months for Dr.leland to give me permission to interview the Joker. She said,"He was an animal, plain and simple." A person who enjoyed twisting people's minds of those who are stupid enough to trust him. I was determined not to be taken unaware, and studied up all his jokes, and tricks. I was ready until he said,"You know, father used to beat me up pretty bad. Every time I stepped out of line--bam! Or sometimes he would just be sitting down and pow! I responded,"Uh-uh," he said," He took me to the circus when I was seven, I still remember this one clown...crazy--looking geek whith his checkered pants. Running around the ring with this tiny dog snapping at his ankles ever time he--he he...every time the geek stopped to kick the pup...zwoop! He dropped his pants and fell straight on his butt! Ha ha ha! Geez, I thought my old man would burst out laughing! I saw how happy he was and I decided I'd make him laugh too! So, the next night, when dad staggered home from the bar--there I stood in front of the doorway wearing his best Sunday slacks around my ankles. "Hi dad," I squealed,"look at me."
"Zwoop! I took a big fall to the ground, and tore the crotch clean off of his pants! "Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" I laughed,"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha..." He said,"Then he broke my nose. I still like to think he was aiming for ass and missed. At least that's what I tell myself...when I woke up in the hospital three days later." I said softly,"Three days later?" He said,"But, hey that's the down side of comedy. You're always taking shots from folks who don't understand... Like my dad or batman." He whispered. He continued,"Thanks, doc. I feel a lot better. Same time next week?"I answered,"sure." I keep wondering why he said batman and why he said it quietly, review my notes and have a conclusion. This isn't about his father it's about...batman!
