Headcanon : malcolm did not 'de-age'
There are far too many gaps and pliable room for expansion on the vague notion that Malcolm simply 'abandoned his son, turned young, ruled neverland, and then died' scenario. In my opinion, he did not merely 'turn young' but made a deal with the shadow that empowered him to possess a both youthful and powerful body. Why else would the shadow agree?
Had he merely been returned to the physical state of his younger years, there would have been less... confliction. He would not have had magic - his eye color, his clothes... they all changed. I understand that casting is not a perfect science and should not be expected to be such; however, the incongruencies seemed almost deliberate, a door being opened for a possible storyline.
And the fact no one ventured through said opening really irks me.
I would certainly be curious to know whether anyone else has come to this conclusion or if I am just an over-analytical loon.
