"When all is lost, the future still remains."

What else is there left to do, when you're standing right in front of death in the form a human-like beast? Armin stared into it's ever so glowing, crystal blue eyes. The stench of blood and death hung in the air making the weak boy grow even more nauseous. The beast took slow steps towards him, snarling here and there. It's white coat of fur stained in crimson, just like the snow that covered the floor. By now, Armin's vision was beginning to fade in and out. That thing slouched and got closer to his face, enough for him to feel the warmth of its breath. The boy squeezed his eyes shut, preparing to meet his demise. Just then, a gush of air past by him along with the sound of bones cracking and a whimper.

"Well, well... It appears we have the leader of the mutts, and it seems that he forgot to bring his shitty puppies along." Armin's eyes opened half way, mainly due to the fact that his eye lids were becoming incredibly heavy. He saw a man. Pale skin, black hair, and with a short stature. The short man stood over the wolf that had trouble getting back up on his feet.

"Awww Shorty! You might have broken a few of its bones. Sometimes I can't believe how much strength can be in such a little man..." A woman with glasses and long dark brown hair walked up to the man, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Tch... Shitty Glasses..." The man glared at the woman, before turning back to his target that was unable to get up. As the man walked closer to the creature, the creature would let out nerve wrecking growls that could easily make anyone flee, but the man was unfazed. "Now, let us finish what we started. Would you like to help, Shitty Glasses?" The man offered.

"Of course!" The woman replied with a laugh only a maniac can pull off.

...

"Damn it, Erwin. Just kill the boy, he won't make it, and even if he did we have to kill him, he's seen things that he wasn't supposed. What makes him so special?"

"Levi! This boy has Smith blood coursing through his veins! He may be valuable."

"I can't save him, damn it... I have to turn him, now!"

"Erwin, are you sure about this? There's a chance he won't survive the change."

"I have no other choice!"

...

"Damn it... Where are you?" The teen with messy, short pale blonde hair mumbled under his breath, as he scanned the area of the car wreck. He let out a heavy sigh, walking toward the car. He pushed the car back onto its wheels with ease causing the snow to crunch under the weight.

"Hey..." The young male turned to the girl standing a few feet from him. They made eye contact, and the boy noted the tinge of hurt in the girls ice cold eyes that were much like her father's. "Th-They killed him, didn't they? The cold ones, their scent lingers in the air..." The boy replied, catching the whiff of the familiar scent in the air. "Y-Yeah, our father is d-dead... Let's just finish up here, we must return to the pack, our new Alpha call-" "Wait!" The boy took in a deep breath, before getting closer to the damaged car. He stuck his head in the broken window allowing himself to fully smell the back seats of the car.

"What is it?" The girl asked getting closer to the boy who had taken a step back from the vehicle and was now staring blankly at it. "How many... H-How many were eaten?" The blonde questioned, looking back at his sibling. "Two. A man and a woman. Why?" The girl was confused, she watched her brother closely. "Three. There were three people in the car! Where's the other!?" The male looked around his surroundings worriedly. He knew that if someone escaped alive, there would be a chance of their secret being exposed, and that alone could bring danger to all of them. "We have to go, now. We'll inform our Alpha. He gives the commands." The girl quickly grabbed the boy's wrist pulling him along with her.

...

"Erwin, you shouldn't have done that." The short man said as he paced back and forth in the modern living room. "Listen to me, Levi. I have faith that I made the right decision." The tall male with blonde hair said. Levi nodded, having confidence that his friend knew what he was doing. "What's his name, anyway?" Levi said in his usual monotone voice as he took a seat on the couch. "Armin Alexander Arlert," Erwin answered with a slight smile. "Tch. They must've named the brat after you. Both of you share the same middle name, not only that but Armin and Erwin are awfully similar names. How original..." Levi commented, looking as disinterested as ever, earning a chuckle from the other man.

A woman burst into the room laughing happily causing the dark haired man to become annoyed. "Any louder, Four Eyes?" The man snarled. The woman turned to the other man with a huge grin on her face. "Erwin! The boy is magnificent! Despite him being dead, he managed to successfully turn! I saw the way his wounds closed! The way his bones fixed themselves back into their proper place!" The woman said yelled with excitement. The man sighed in relief knowing Armin survived the transformation. "Though, there is something different about the boy. I'm not sure what to think of it..." The woman said in a quieter voice. "What do you mean, Hange?" Erwin questioned in a concerned matter. "He doesn't look like us. As in, his skin isn't pale or cold and his eyes remain blue. You can't even sense that he's a vampire at all. Unlike most vampires who awaken as soon as they become one, he still seems to be asleep..." The brown haired woman explained. There was a moment a silence between the three. "He's gifted, Four Eyes. Sort of like me. I am stronger than most vampires. He can easily pass as a human, better than any of us." Levi spoke up. Erwin thought of it, while Hange's gave a wide smile. She quickly went over to Levi and grabbed his arm. "Well, then, come on! Our gifted boy might awaken soon, and he will need to quench his thirst! Let's go hunt!" Hange said with enthusiasm. Levi looked to Erwin as if asking for permission. The blonde man nodded with a warm smile, and with that the two went out, leaving the man in his thoughts.

"A vampire that can pass as a human. That can come to use for us... He can easily infiltrate the enemy's territory. Of course, that's assuming the wolves won't sense the vampire that he is. Armin has the potential to be the infiltrator."
