Nick was a 10 year old boy who lived in the Sinnoh region. He was sitting on the floor of his relatively plain bedroom watching a program about Professor Rowan's recent expedition to a far away region, in search of the famous red Gyarados that is said to live there,
"We managed to talk with the busy professor as he got off his plane when he arrived back in Sinnoh earlier this morning," said the woman on the TV, "He told us that they did not manage to find the red Gyarados, but that does not mean that it is not there." The woman giggled a little bit at this and so did Nick, " Well that's all the time we have for today, tune in tomorrow for more!" The TV screen went blank. Nick began to stand up, when suddenly a boy with oddly styled hair came charging into his room, it was Barry his childhood friend. He tripped upon entering Nick's room,
"Hey! What's the big idea!" he shouted, " Nick I'm fining you for not having a good floor!" Nick chuckled, "Did you see that show about Professor Rowan?" Barry asked changing the subject quickly.
"Yeah I did, it's all a hoax though really." Nick laughed and so did Barry,
"Yeah maybe, but I've heard stories of oddly colored Pokemon before," Barry began, "they sparkle like they're shiny gems they say."
"Really?" Nick asked in awe,
"Yeah, in fact I heard some woman in town telling someone that she saw an oddly colored Bidoof near Lake Verity." Barry's face suddenly brightened, suggesting he had and idea, "Hey I know! Let's go to Lake Verity and see if we can find it!" Nick looked surprised at Barry's sudden idea,
"Seriously?" he asked Barry nodded his head enthusiastically,
"Come on! Get dressed and meet me at the edge of town!" Before Nick could reply Barry bolted out of his room.
