I was sitting in my chair reading a book when I heard the door open. "Carrie? Is that you?" I asked peering in the direction of the door " Yup." I heard a very familiar voice reply. "What did the doctor say?" I said as my beautiful wife entered my study. "He said I just have a cold." She said as she pulled a book from one of the shelves. "Glad it wasn't anything bad." I said while looking back at my book. "What ya got planed for tomorrow?" I said still reading my book. "Well...I was thinking about going to the orphanage." She said, sniffling. "What?! Really? Hahaha!" I replied happily getting up and hugging my wife, I picked her up and spun her around,I put her down and asked "But were is he or she going to sleep?" "I was thinking that he or she could sleep with us for the time being. And when we move (hint hint)they can have there own room..." She said while swinging back and fourth and making a puppy dog face."I suppose... " I sighed. "Yay!!" She exclaimed excitedly. And skipped out of the room. In never could say no to her....that very night we got a call,it was for Carry. I heard her say "what do you mean? I'm what?.....no.......no...." She started to sob. I went to comfort her but she backed away. "OK......no its OK. alright, goodnight doctor..." She said, face dripping with tears. She hung up the phone and dropped to her knees and started crying even harder. "What happened?! Is everything OK?? What did he say?!" I said dropping to my knees and trying to comfort her." I have 3 days to live....it wasn't just a cold...I love you..." She said covering her face with her hands. "What?" I was stunned. "We were going to start a family! We were going to adopt a child!....we.....we were going to be happy..." She said sobbing even harder. "It...it's... Going to be OK....just...let's get some rest....OK?" She nodded and walked off to bed. The next morning we went to the hospital and she had to be knocked out I stayed with her for hours and hours on end. When the doctor came in, she said I should go. It was hard but I said my I love you's and went out. The next morning I awoke to a nurse shaking me and said I needed to go see my wife. She was dead. My beautiful wife. Dead. "No....no....no...she can't be...." I said starting to cry. "I'm sorry sir." The nurse replied apologetically. I rested my head on the side of her bed and was sobbing even harder now. I felt a hand on my head and look up. She was alive..."C- Carrie?" I asked. "I'll always love you...my dear......" Just as she said those final words the heart monitor stopped. She was dead. "CARRIE! CARRIE! PLEASE! WAKE UP!" I yelled while being pulled out of the room." Sir,....she's gone..." The nurse said as she closed the door behind us and walked down the haul." No....no... I love you Carrie... " I said while dropping to my knees. Just as I was crying I felt a hand on my cheek. I looked up but there was no one there... 'I love you....' Heard someone whisper. It was Carrie....
