My parents got divorced a few years back, Mom took me, Dad took Michael. Mom and I moved to Idaho and my father and brother stayed in Maine. The first day of school was pretty terrible. Kids being rude, the humiliation of the teacher calling your name, so, yeah typical 'new girl's first day at a new school. I got there and of course my mother insisted on going in with me. Anyway, I found my locker and rushed to class and as you can imagine, BOOM, I got body slammed into someone real hard, just it is not like in the movies where the hottie boy helps you pick up your books. Its just me, by myself, he completely ignored me, just said" move, or get moved"!
Come on, I know first days are tough, but really? I mean, there was this one girl with dark black hair that looked a bit gray and brown eyes who said to me "hello, my name is Ola." There wasn't anyone around her and she looked pretty sad."I'm Nancy!" I said, holding out my hand. She didn't take it. Well, not the happiest person to meet at school but, hey, she's something of an improvement to getting crashed into and ignored.
Mom doesn't really ever talk to me. She feels guilty about having been a drunk so she works real hard but still she never really has a conversation with me. It's like"hey sweetie how was school?"
She never sticks around for the answer though. I don't wish she and dad had not gotten separated. They were done for from the beginning, but I miss them taking us to IHOP on weekends and going bowling on Fridays. I miss Maine also, I had friends there, and my first love too. We just moved here last month, before we lived in Boston. I hate moving and this isn't the cliché were the akward girl meets a guy and falls in love. I just fall. I do not even knlw why my mom had to choose this, of sll places. I am kind of starting to hate it here already. Life is not s fairy tale, it is not Romeo and Juliet either so no fling, sorry if you were expecting one, this is way better though, I get to save myself, how awesome is that?
