The rain poured down heavily, tumbling down onto the roof of the house. Thunder was cracking the sky open. It was one of the worst storms in the area for a while. Will was sitting in his favourite armchair sipping a glass of scotch. The fire in his living room was blazing due to the storm causing a power cut. The fire was crackling regularly he would have enjoyed its blissful nature under different circumstances. Will rose up from the chair and grabbed his glass throwing it against the wall resulting in liquor dripping down the wall and glass all over the floor. Will was enraged at the fact he had been let go from his job.
They let him go because they were scared due to the fact that if Will was given another boost with his work he would eventually discover they were taking bribes during their cases. Will would have been promoted so would then gain access to all of the firms files. As a so called "do-gooder" Although they had no idea Will had known for months, so they were lucky to get rid of him when they did as Will was on the cusp of exposing it all. Will left the living room to go and make himself another drink, he found it difficult to make his way to the kitchen, and he must have had more than he thought. Trying to walk it felt like the hallway was moving around, he felt dizzy. He tripped a couple of times before he clumsily made himself a drink and staggered his way back to his armchair.
Will just sat there drinking away. He began to think about his past, his parents, his friends or that should be "friend" to be precise. He missed his family back home and just his home in general. The way the grass would blow in the wind, the rolling green hills, the smell of mom's home cooking and the warm summers. Throughout the recollection he eventually fell asleep. He eventually woke up and realised that he had been asleep for four hours, it was now three in the morning. Will stood up, stretched out and began to walk to the stairs to go to bed and then there was a series of loud knocks on the door followed by someone saying "Will, Will are you there?" He recognised that voice.
Will turned his head around and quickly jolted towards the door in anticipation and fear. He reached out to open the door but paused halfway through unlocking the door. What was he doing? This was the guy he swore that he would never talk to again. Then at that moment the Will's old associates hand banged on the door this time leaving a bloody handprint on the front of the door. Will immediately yanked open the door to reveal his old best friend Tommy standing there in the pouring rain with a drenched white shirt and a giant red stain on his left arm, he'd been shot.
"Oh my god Tommy what happened?" Will asked frantically.
"Well if you invite me in and patch me up I'll tell you all about it," Replied Tommy sarcastically. Will invited him in but was somewhat sceptical as he recalled Tommy was excellent at the art of deception. Will slung Tommy's good arm over his shoulder, carried him inside and sat him down on a chair in the kitchen.
"What happened in there?" Tommy asked Will as he pointed towards the living room.
"Nothing just forget it," Will sighed regretting his child-like behaviour.
"I'm going to call an ambulance you need to go..." Tommy grabbed Will's arm before he could walk away to the phone.
"No! No ambulances, no hospitals, they'll tell the police and I'll be in even more trouble than I already am... Please," Tommy pleaded.
"God okay fine then, well I guess I'll go get the first aid kit and patch you up," Will said sympathetically. He walked into his bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit and then continued to head back to the kitchen. Tommy was sitting there admiring his surroundings; it was obvious Will had done well for himself. Will walked into the kitchen and looked at Tommy's wound.
"Right here we are, well you've been shot but luckily the bullet went straight through, it'll only need a few stitches and time to heal". Will began to stitch the wound together; Tommy clenched his fist in pain until his knuckles turned white. It was miraculous that he managed to do it so accurately due to the fact he was still a little bit intoxicated.
