1. The Inadvertent Initiation

The fog.

The fog was everywhere, and Althia couldn't see through it.

The cool, misty sensation was comforting, but was as much a mask of its true nature as the fog was in regards to the landscape.

Dark shapes loomed in the distance, tiny hints about the landscape.

Alethia couldn't remember what had been before. She was slowly losing all of her memories. Alethia couldn't recognize basic plants and animals anymore, and could hardly grasp the thought that she was Althia...she was...she was...

A man was running through a forest, chased by other men.

He was a rather average man in many ways. The only thing special about him was that it was prophesied that he would destroy Greece.

Around the time he was born, everything fell apart. The natural hierarchy dissolved, and the powerful hunted the weak and the weak hunted the powerful.

But the change helped the world!

Star-crossed lovers lived happily ever after, rivalries dissolved as if they were in water...

It also lead to death. Murder. Fire.

None of this mattered to the man. He was just trying to escape.

The next thing that happened was the single most important thing to ever happen to the man, and Greece, and the world.

A root seemingly pulled itself up, a ghastly tendril squirmed, and he tripped.
