Chapter 2

Steve was flown by Quinjet to a shield aircraft carrier in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. He was greeted by Natalia Alianovna Ronamova. Her Russian name translated to Natasha Romanoff which was what most people called her. She also went by Black Widow; a nickname given to her in the Russian Red Room.

"Agent Romanoff, Captain Rogers." Phil Coulson introduced them both.

"Ma'am." Steve said with a nod.

"Hi. They need you on the bridge they're starting the face-trace." She told Coulson.

"See you there." Coulson quickly departed.

"It was quite the buzz around here finding you in the ice." Natasha told him. "I thought Coulson was gonna swoon. Did he ask you to sign his Captain America trading cards yet?"

"Trading cards?"

"They're vintage. He's very proud."

"Dr Banner." Steve called seeing Bruce looking around nervously.

"Yeah. Hi." Bruce said shaking Steve's hand. "They told me you'd be coming."

"Word is you can find the cube." Steve said.

"And is that the only word on me?" Bruce asked.

"Only word I care about."

"It must be strange for you all of this." Bruce said looking around.

"Well, this is actually kinda familiar." Steve said.

"Gentlemen you might want to step inside in a minute. It's gonna get a little hard to breathe." Natasha instructed.

They heard the rumble of machinery as an alarm went off warning everyone to get inside.

"Is this a submarine?" Steve asked walking closer to the edge.

"Really? They want me in a submerged, pressurized container." Banner muttered also walking to the edge.

They watched as huge metal turbines rose out of the water. They began to spin and the carrier began to lift out of the water.

Steve and Bruce took a step back. "No, no this is much worse." Bruce said.

Natasha showed them into the main control room and let Fury take over. Fury told Banner where they were on finding the cube and then Natasha showed him to his lab.

Later on Steve was talking to Coulson.

"I mean if it's not too much trouble." Coulson said.

"No. No, it's fine." Steve told him.

"It's a vintage set." Coulson said proudly. "It took me a couple of years to collect them all. Near mint. Slight foxing around the edges but..."

He was cut off by Agent Sitwell. "We got a hit. Sixty-seven percent match. Wait, cross match seventy-nine percent."

"Location?" Coulson asked walking up to Sitwell. The computer screen showed an image of Loki.

"Stuttgart, Germany. Twenty-eight Konigstrasse." Sitwell told him. "He's not exactly hiding."

"Captain," Fury called. "you're up."

Steve took a deep breath and nodded.

Loki had attacked a Gala in a museum. Everyone present had run out side. Loki followed and as he walked his suit was replaced by his Asgardian armour. Suddenly there were versions of him cutting off all the escape routes of the people.

"Kneel before me." Loki called as the people screamed. No one knelt. "I said, kneel!" Everyone did. "Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."

One old man stood while everyone else kneeled. "Not to men like you." He said strongly.

"There are no men like me." Loki told him with a devious smile.

"There are always men like you." The man replied.

"Look to your elder, people." Loki said priming his sceptre. "Let him be an example." Loki fired his weapon at the man. But before it hit its mark Steve jumped in front shield raised. The blast rebounded and knocked Loki to the ground.

"You know, the last time I was in Germany, and saw a man standing above everyone else, we ended up disagreeing." Steve said as Loki got to his feet.

"The soldier. The man out of time." Loki said with a laugh.

"I'm not the one who's out of time." Steve said.

A Quinjet flown by Natasha appeared and aimed its gun towards him. "Loki." Natasha's voice came over the coms. "Drop the weapon and stand down."

He fired at the Quinjet but it was encased in a blue glow as something moved it out of the way.

"The hell was that?" Natasha muttered to herself.

Steve threw his shield at Loki and all the people scattered. They started to fight. Loki got the other hand and placed his sceptre on Steve's head.

"Kneel." Loki snarled.

"Not today." Steve said knocking the sceptre and getting back to his feet. He kicked Loki in the head.

Natasha was trying to get a clear shot but failing. "The guy's all over the place."

Another voice suddenly came over the intercom as Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC started to play. "Agent Romanoff, you miss me?" Stark asked.

Stark flew in but didn't get far as a blue force knocked all three men down to the floor. A women walked into the middle of the square. Her hands were encased in the glow. She was dressed in black skinny jeans, combat boots and a black hoodie with the hood up. Her face was covered with a black bandana.

"We have a powered unknown in the field." Natasha said over the system to Fury.

"Bring them in." Fury replied.

Stark recovered first and blasted Loki with one hand while blasting the women with the other. She blocked his blast with her powers and sent a hex bolt straight at him. Luckily he took off and dodged. Steve threw his shield but she deflected it. He took the opportunity to run at her. They fought hand to hand before she threw him using her powers. He regained his shield and saw Stark priming for another shot. He threw the shield as Stark shot. She couldn't deflect them both and Stark's blast hit her straight in the stomach. She went down.

Stark and Steve both went to take care of Loki who raised his hands in defeat.

"Make your move reindeer games." Stark said as Loki's helmet vanished. "Good move."

"Mr Stark." Steve addressed panting heavily.

"Captain." Stark nodded. "You get her. I've got him."

Steve walked over to the women who was out cold on the ground. There was a hole ripped in her shirt and a nasty burn underneath. Her hood was down and her dark hair was splayed across the ground. He pulled down her bandana and took a step back in shock. He rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things. Her hair had changed but Steve could tell it was her. She had the scar in her left eyebrow that Bucky had given her in a game of catch when they were kids.

"That's impossible." Steve muttered as he looked at the face of his twin sister.
