The clock hands ticked away in a hypnotic rhythm, as time slipped past. 8 o'clock and I was already late. Adam stood frantically by the door, "Hurry up! Where were you?" A hint of panic ran through his voice, "you even ready?"
Adam was meeting up with his new girlfriend, Mia, then he was going to pick up Spencer, Hanna, and Emily. Since I couldn't find myself a date, the girls agreed to ditch theirs and go with me to the Masquerade.
I ran down the spiral staircase, my father had installed a few years ago. Adam gave me a weak smile. His signature pose. One side higher than the other. "Bye, Mum!" We cried in unison. Oh my, God. We're going to be late.
Spencer, Hanna, and Emily were gathered on Mr and Mrs. Radford's patio steps. As soon as they saw the Holden, they ran. "Aria!" Spence shrieked. Hanna and Emily giggled. Alcohol? Already?

As we pulled up to the main entrance, Adam signaled for us to get out.
I felt so awkward. Alison and I had been friends since kindergarten, but we weren't exactly in with the same crowd. There were jocks walking around in masks and suits, Cheerleaders talking to them in huge gowns and sparkly masks. It was all so.... Different. "I'm gonna get some water" I told the girls.
I poured myself a drink and took a few sips. Then I stopped. Mouth wide open. Total dream-boy was walking directly towards me. I lowered my gaze, once I saw he had caught me staring. "Hi" he said. "The name's Kendall". Kendall, Kendall, Kendall. He pulled his mask off. The perfect name to match the perfect face. His hair was a deep shade of brown. Those eyes. Oh, those eyes were a dreamy green.
Sorry guys this is really rushed. This isn't where I thought I would end it, but oh well. Comment what you think so far. Please be sure to positively criticize me (I know that sounds a bit weird) as it will help me next time :)
